A Comparison Of The Canon EOS R3 And R5 Mirrorless Cameras

Home Gear Reviews Gear A Comparison of the Canon EOS R3 and R5 Mirrorless Cameras

The Canon EOS R3 and EOS R5 are the company's two most powerful full frame cameras at the moment, offering powerful though different feature sets at two distinct price points. So, which is right for your work? This great video review takes a good look at both cameras to help you decide which is right for your needs.

Coming to you from Jan Wegener, this excellent video review takes a look at the Canon EOS R3 and EOS R5 mirrorless cameras. While there are a variety of differences between the two cameras, such as autofocus capabilities and maximum burst rate, perhaps the most notable dividing line is sensor resolution, with the EOS R3 offering 24 megapixels and the EOS R5 coming in with almost double that, at 45 megapixels. While 24 megapixels is plenty for a wide range of applications, there is something to be said for having all that extra resolution, as even if you do not need it for your final images, it lends you a lot of compositional flexibility and can even save you from having to purchase a long lens for certain applications by allowing you to crop in as needed. Check out the video above for Wegener's full thoughts on both cameras.

My money's on Canon releasing an R1 with the best of both next year, for more $$$ than both combined 😐

Higher resolution than the R5 but also faster shooting than the R3 with a deeper buffer to boot.

I wish you'd post fewer videos and more articles. When I find a result in Google that leads me here, only to discover it's a video, I almost invariably move on from the site. I can get the information I'm looking for in VASTLY less time with an article, and if absolutely essential, maybe an accompanying video illustration. I've seen precious few times where a video does a better job than a well-written camera review.
