Canada UK English Bonjour, I am trying to translate the following phrase: "I have a keen eye for fashion" my attempt into French: "J'ai l'oeuil vif pour la mode". Any other suggestions or help is very welcome & appreciated. Merci d'avance P:) tilt

Nord-Isère, France French French Does a keen eye mean the same as a shrap sharp eye? If so, the French equivalent is just J'ai l'oeil, pour la mode. Last edited: Jul 28, 2009 P

Canada UK English Hello Tilt, Thanks so much for your posting! To answer your question: keen means a sharp (not shrap) eye for fashion... So in your opinon it sounds better to leave out the word "vif" - I see you've got many posts under your belt so I appreciate your comment. tilt

Nord-Isère, France French French Sorry for the typo. Yes, vif doesn't suit the expression in this context. Avoir l'oeil vif rather means looking healthy and smart, and is generally used for animals. You must log in or register to reply here. Share: Bluesky LinkedIn WhatsApp Email Share Link
