Airbus H215 Description

The Airbus Helicopters H215 is a twin-engine, medium-size utility helicopter developed and marketed originally by Aérospatiale, later by Eurocopter and currently by Airbus Helicopters. It is a re-engined version of the original Aérospatiale SA 330 Puma. First flying in 1978, the Super Puma succeeded the SA 330 Puma as the main production model of the type in 1980. In civilian service, a next-generation successor to the AS 332 was introduced in 2004, the further-enlarged Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma.One of the H215's most significant features is its 4-axis dual duplex digital autopilot. This user-friendly service provides stability and flight envelope protection to reduce pilot workload and increase situational awareness through nearly any flight condition. Two versions of the helicopter were designed: one for multi-role operations and another with a shorter airframe for aerial work or utility duties. These versions, their large reconfigurable cabins, and a plethora of equipment options allow for a versatile range of missions, including SAR, medevac, law enforcement, passenger transport, firefighting, disaster relief, and more.As of 2019, more than 1,000 H215 aircraft have been produced. The model remains in production today, with a unit cost of $15 million. Primary operators include the French Air Force, CHC Helicopter, Offshore, and the Spanish Air Force.
