AMGC63 Fan A Hello all! I will be in the market next year for a 2021 C63 (before they switch to the 4 cylinder model). I think the additional performance and attitude of the S will amplify that. - Louis #6 · Apr 28, 2021 I have owned both (coupes) so I feel I can comment quite well here. I went from a 2018 C63 to a 2020 C63S quite recently. Both were 2019 model year cars, meaning they were both Facelift/OPF cars. If you're looking at Facelift cars, there isn't too much difference besides the increase in horsepower. The standard C63 got dynamic engine mounts and electric differential as standard, which were previously only available in the S. With the S you get some extra cosmetic benefits, like the racing seats, alcantara, and red calipers etc. You also get AMG track pace and AMG dynamics adjustment. In terms of driving, the S has upgraded brakes but honestly I can't say I've noticed a difference. You can definitely feel a difference in the power delivery/mapping of race mode though, when you floor it the S does take off a lot quicker despite the power increase only being from 476 bhp to 510 bhp, it's quite a noticeable difference from the standard model. Most important thing to consider though is that the pre facelift cars are much louder than the facelift ones. Mainly due to the OPF addition in the exhaust but also because of the mapping. For example, my 2018 C63 was a facelift car with OPF, but popped, banged and crackled a lot louder than my 2020 S does. (Yes this is hurting me lol) I think I read somewhere that they 'toned down' the pops and bangs with the ECU software because of noise regs, so this is something to consider too. Overall the facelift car will drive better but depends how important the sound experience is to you. I believe, though expect to be corrected, that the easy way to tell if its a facelift model is the steering wheel and larger screen?
