An Son Port Depot Arouses An Son River's Potential - Báo Bình Dương

Binh Duong is surrounded by two big rivers, Sai Gon and Dong Nai. With its estuaries, including Thi Tinh river, canals of Ong Co, Ong Danh, Vinh Binh, Ba Hiep bridges…, Sai Gon river plays an important role in waterway traffic system and socio-economic development of the province. These potentials have fallen into oblivion for many years because of objective conditions.

To arouse Sai Gon river’s important potentials, Thanh Le General Import Export Trading Corporation has been assigned to build the An Son port depot and village complex in Thuan An town’s An Son commune.

Not only being a waterway

As an industrial locality with 28 industrial parks and 8 industrial compounds of more than 9,000 hectares in total, Binh Duong has a great demand for goods transport and import export. Hence, provincial People’s Committee has forwarded construction of the 15-ha An Son port depot that is able to accommodate ships and barges of 2,200 tons.

Tran Thanh Liem, vice-chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that this is an important work in socio-economic development of Binh Duong and the whole region. In addition to road traffic system with great investment, waterway traffic system will greatly contribute to building of a green-clean and nice Binh Duong. On behalf of provincial leaders, he also extended thanks to people living in the projected area for their contributions so that the project will be completed soon and put into operation on schedule.

Potentials need to be aroused

With many potentials as an important port depot and a gateway connecting Mekong Delta, Southeastern regions and HCM city with transportation changes of 35%-45% and 33%-40% compared to which by railway and roadway, respectively, An Son port depot will contribute to reshaping the image of An Son commune and creating stable jobs for the local people…

An Son port also contributes to easing the overload of road traffic system, accelerating and favorizing the provincial import- exportation to the Mekong Delta and southeastern localities, improving the local people’s material and spiritual lives.

In addition to its 15-ha port depot, the 45-ha An Son complex with a total investment capital of VND849bln includes villages along the Sai Gon River and a residential estate of 30 hectares.
