Austenitic Steels For Valve Components - Castinox

Austenitic stainless steel

Austenitic steels are created by adding nickel in a sufficient amount for the crystalline structure to change to “austenite”. The composition has approximately 16 to 25% of chromium and 8 to 20% of nickel. In addition, they cannot be hardened by heat treatment as the stable austenitic structure is independent from the temperature at which it is treated.

Austenitic steel is one of the main and most frequently used types of stainless steels in industry. Thanks to its high resistance, usually higher than those of ferritic and martensitic steels. Resistance is not its sole benefit: austenitic steels also offer easy machining, a wide range of temperatures, and a variety of mechanical properties.

This type of structures are not magnetic, and thanks to their components are suitable for a high level of conformability.

Industries and Parts where Austenitic Steel is of note:

Castinox is a stainless steel and special alloy company. Specifically, we use austenitic steels for a wide variety of applications and parts in the power industry, food industry, chemical industry, plastic industry, paper industry, railway industry, construction industry and mining industry.
