| Avoid Finger Pointing: Practical Guidance in Dealing with Ethical Dilemmas Session DescriptionCompanies continually face increasing challenges when they encounter large oversights or even intentional wrongdoing – often with no clear path that serves everyone’s interests. Commonly, internal conflict surfaces and various parties may “point the finger” elsewhere or simply be unable to arrive at proper outcomes. Ethical leadership is nearly impossible when everyone is out for their own personal interests first. As we have witnessed, new movements such as those involving diversity, bias, harassment, and others in headlines and social media, the problems can escalate quickly. When companies fail to take necessary steps soon after the problem surfaces – they are often later forced to take much greater measures such as executive terminations, restructuring, and more public apologies with significant reputational damage. Understanding HR’s role in facilitating reasonable planning, escalations, and responses may serve to help your companies avoid the problems in the first place – or be instrumental in effectively resolving the matter early. This session will focus on 1) fundamentals of ethical decision-making; 2) HR’s unique role in facilitating the process; 3) common mistakes to avoid; and 4) practical techniques that you can implement immediately for success. Speaker Jim HankinsJim Hankins is the President and Founder of Antero Compliance based in the Greater Denver area. Specialties include working with human resources, executives, and others to handle complex matters with ethical perspectives in mind while striking a balance between the competing interests of employees, customers, executives, and others. Jim has previously worked as a criminal investigator and in-house as the head of compliance and a leader in HR for public companies. He received his MBA with a concentration in Values Based Leadership from the University of Denver. APRROVED FOR 1.5 SHRM AND 1.5 HRCI GENERAL CREDIT. | |||||||
