The B&M Sport Shifter can be used

in vehicles equipped with most popularthree speed or four speed automatictransmissions. It is equipped with neu-tral safety and backup light switches,transmission brackets and levers, and afive foot shift cable. Optional shiftercables in 2 ft. (#80830), 3 ft. (#80831),4 ft. (#80832), 8 ft. (#80834), 10 ft.(#80835) and 12 ft. (#80836) are alsoavailable. To use the B&M Sport Shifterwith the Ford AOD transmission you willneed accessory kit #40496.

To use the

B&M Sport Shifter with a GM 4L60E,4L65E,4L80E or 4L85E transmissionequipped with a PRNDL switch you willneed the optional accessory kit #75498otherwise you can use the GM bracketsupplied.

Please read the instructions and

review the illustrations thoroughly be-fore beginning the installation.

The mechanical components of this

shifter are precision made and as-sembled at our factory. Any modifica-tion or disassembly of these parts cancause the shifter to malfunction and willvoid the warranty. You should disas-semble only those items outlined in theinstructions.

The vehicle should be about 2 feet off

the ground for ease of installation. Usejack stands, wheel ramps or a vehiclelift. Make sure the vehicle is firmly sup-ported before attempting to work on it.IMPORTANT: If your vehicle is equippedwith a locking steering column, secur-ing the column lock lever in the enginecompartment in the full up position will

allow the steering wheel to be lockedand unlocked and the ignition key to beremoved.WARNING: This allows the steeringwheel to be locked WHENEVER theignition key is turned to the “lock” posi-tion WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING,OR AT ANY OTHER TIME. Securingthe steering column lock lever in anyother position will both PREVENT thesteering wheel from locking and removalof the ignition key.

INSTALLATION

STEP 1. Remove the stock shift link-age.Column Shifters: Remove all rods,levers or cables from the column andthe transmission. Place the columnshift lever in the Park position. Removethe pin holding the shift lever in thecolumn and remove the lever assembly.If your vehicle is equipped with a lockingsteering column, secure the columnlock lever in the full up position. WARN-ING: This allows the steering wheel tobe locked and ignition key removedWHENEVER the ignition key is turnedto the “lock” position WHILE THE VE-HICLE IS MOVING, OR AT ANY OTHERTIME.Console Shifters: Remove the shiftermechanism from the console. Discon-nect the rod or the cable from the trans-mission. Remove the cable bracket ifequipped. If there is a cable or linkagefrom the console shifter or transmissionto the steering column lock, it must be

blocked in the Park position as de-scribed above.NOTE: Shifter installation may requireconsole modification or complete con-sole removal depending on the spaceavailable in your vehicle.STEP 2. If the shifter is being used on aGM four speed automatic transmissionthe blocker screw shown in Figure 1should be removed. For all three speedautomatic transmissions as well as theFord AOD four speed automatic trans-mission the blocker screw should re-main in place.STEP 3. Pull the carpet away from thefloorboard where the shifter is to bemounted. If the vehicle has a bench typeseat, move seat to the full forward posi-tion. Place the shifter on the floor withthe stick shifted to the rearmost gateposition. Locate the shifter for ease andconvenience of operation. Make surethe T-handle clears the dash with theshifter in the Park position. Mark theposition of four mounting holes on thefloor. Note that the cable exits from therear of the B&M Sport Shifter ratherthan from the front as in most other B&Mshifters.STEP 4. Drill four 9/32" mounting holeswhere marked. Temporarily mount theshifter in place using washers as re-quired to get it level. Mark the locationfor the shifter cable hole, then drill or cuta cable hole in floorboard using thetemplate in these instructions. NOTE:Some floorboards are extremely thinand will not adequately support theshifter mechanism when bolted to the
