Golden Minions in Battlegrounds are missing their animations. Why? I do understand the reason in Solo but in Battleground you do get a lot of Golden minions. So why not animate them.

They used to be animated but caused lag.

Remember Battlegrounds deals with buffs on a level far higher than was ever really anticipated by the developers (or the code).

They have to fix all the animations first. It always take so much time to sell, buy and buff, it’s completely ridiculous.

I’m just impressed they were able to make the Hearthstone engine run Battlegrounds, it’s easily my fav mode atm!

Maybe they could add a disable/enable animations toggle for people with varying tech if they experience lag?

HS runs on the Unity engine. Scripting in Unity is in Mono C#, performance-wise idk how much they can squeeze. Ofc Blizzard has a pro version and access to source code, but idk how much that helps. Idk how many patches ago, they upgraded the version of the engine, and it broke quite many stuff in the game.

At the end of the day HS was not designed or coded with BG in mind.

Disabling the animations (or restricting them) is likely the easiest way to have HS & BG co-exist without having to re-code the core game of HS.

Unless they make BG it’s own game (from the launcher) or they heavily monetize it, I don’t see them spending much money on re-coding the mode and rather just try to tweak it for performance.
