Peterpack P Hi guys, i have a living room which in terms of outside light, is well light controlled with blackout curtains, but i choose to have one of the internal lights on (it is a living room). This light isn't in the immediate area where my current projector and screen set up is. I currently have a BenQ 1070, the legend as we all know it as, it has served me well (and is still working), I have no issues with brightness/light in my room with this light on with the 1070 So looking to upgrade to a 4K projector I believe with the W2700 v TK850, it's comes down to brightness v color accuracy. If a 1070 did the trick brightness wise, would a W2700 also do the trick ? or do i need the brighter TK850 ? Another question i have, the W2700i and TK850i are 2021 models of these projectors and the only change is smart features ? (which i won't use, ) Last question is about bulb life. Currently i alternate between watching on a 1080p TV (weekdays) and my 1080p projector (weekends). I am not buying a new TV, so will use this new projector 7 days a week. I have seen lamp life figures for these BenQ 4K projectors at between 4000 and 15000 hours, quite a lot more than the 1070. In real terms, how many hours are you guys getting out of your BenQ 4K projector bulbs ? thanks all :) #1 · Jul 14, 2021 Hi guys, i have a living room which in terms of outside light, is well light controlled with blackout curtains, but i choose to have one of the internal lights on (it is a living room). W2700 vs W1070 comes down to screen size, and under 120in I suspect the W2700 is the way to go and TK850 for larger screens. The new W1800STi and TK700STi are similar to the W2700 and TK850 but are short throw and have no dynamic iris. Lamp life is best with the newer projectors in Smarteco, and should outlast the W1070 quite easily. However, I would also suggest you look at the BenQ X1300i as it's very bright and the LED light engine should last many years with no/minimal dimming so it's the perfect TV replacement. It accepts 4K HDR and downscales it to 1080P HDR. #3 · Jul 15, 2021 Thanks for the info and advice Dan :) the 1300i is a 1080p projector though ? I defintely want a 4K projector even faux 4K #4 · Jul 15, 2021 State your screen size and seating distance and we might be able to help with some better advice. The 3550 is not an overly bright projector and if your throw HDR in to the mix you most certainly will need high lamp and it can be fairly loud. I would also consider the Epson 3800 (? UK version I forgot) as it's the light cannon king and better suited for ambient light with $100 OEM replacement lamps. If sitting far enough from an averaged sized screen the 1/2 4K resolution will have minimal impact. #5 · Jul 15, 2021 Cheers, 130 inch screen, viewing distance 4 metres #6 · Jul 15, 2021 I'd suggest a hard look at the X1300i over the HC3800 as the lamp life in the Epson is less than in the W1070 and it will dim rapidly in your use case (~20-25% in the first ~500hrs) and this has to be taken in to consideration. Viewing distance vs resolution: Chart: 1080P Does Matter - CarltonBale.com Show more replies 1 Reply #11 · Jul 17, 2021 I can't decide between W2700 and TK850, bright room with white ceiling, tile floor and wall, no black out shades but I will be viewing movies 90% after dark, so at this point should I get W2700 or TK850, most likely will get tab tension manual pull down Elite screen 100in with 1.1 gain, any advice is much appreciated. Previous projector was W2000/HT3050. Insert Quotes Post Reply
