Caddy is bringing up p0299 fault code. Ive tracked the problem down to a faulty actuator but its well in there. Do you have to take turbo off or any special way of taking it off? As bolts are slightly behind the turbo can not get a socket on them. I dought it's the actuator its self unless u know that the diaphragm is not holding vacuume. It's more likely that the vanes are sticking in the vnt Top owen12345 Caddy Fan Posts: 73 Joined: Sat Jan 02, 2016 7:14 pm Engine size/power: 1.6 16V Petrol (100bhp)

I put a pipe to vaccum on actuator an sucked but have to keep sucking to keep rod extended. To clean vnt am i right in thinking you take exhaust side off turbo an fill with oven cleaner?? Not quite usually the vnt starts sticking because of rust build up so it has to be stripped and manually cleaned up The diagram should seal are u sure the pipe u put on is not leaking or what u are using as a vac pump is not leaking back What driving issues do u have Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Top owen12345 Caddy Fan Posts: 73 Joined: Sat Jan 02, 2016 7:14 pm Engine size/power: 1.6 16V Petrol (100bhp)

Boost is hesitant. And if try to boost hard puts into limp mode. Have to turn key off and back on and boost is back. Also puts light on dash. Pipe was on there good not tried with vac pump though will do that next. Can you shed any light on how to strip it all down?Image Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Top User avatar torque777 Hyper Poster Posts: 5377 Joined: Wed May 28, 2014 12:47 pm Engine size/power: 1.4 16V Petrol (79bhp) Location: Shropshire

I would think it's easier to remove turbo if actuator needs changing.. Image You can see where turbo is on this bls Image You can see actuator here, it needs setting with a midi vac so it opens at correct position or otherwise turbo will not work correctly, I stripped the exhaust side of mine due to sticking vanes at max throttle Image Image Image Back together again Top KenTDI140 Hyper Poster Posts: 1296 Joined: Sat Dec 26, 2015 6:07 pm Engine size/power: 1.4 16V Petrol (79bhp) Location: PLYMOUTH

When u disconnect the actuator rod from the little lever that operates the vanes if it's ok it should be so free to move that u can move it all the way through its travel with one finger Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Top User avatar torque777 Hyper Poster Posts: 5377 Joined: Wed May 28, 2014 12:47 pm Engine size/power: 1.4 16V Petrol (79bhp) Location: Shropshire

I could move mine easily, but still had overboosting, I didn't think there was that much carbon in the vanes but after cleansing it it never did it again Top owen12345 Caddy Fan Posts: 73 Joined: Sat Jan 02, 2016 7:14 pm Engine size/power: 1.6 16V Petrol (100bhp)

It's only held on with two bolts, and two nuts one either side of the vanes control lever, I would try to remove it from above, and maybe from underneath you can get at nut on actuator shaft, at least if you have midi vac you can then set the new actuator correctly Top owen12345 Caddy Fan Posts: 73 Joined: Sat Jan 02, 2016 7:14 pm Engine size/power: 1.6 16V Petrol (100bhp)
