Only minor changes have been made to the Speed Coupe’s design, although a wild BMW M8 was spotted at the Nuerburgring in Germany last year. But do not worry, G-Power is there to help. For its latest project, the German tuner eschewed the top-of-the-line M8, let alone the sharper Competition model of the M8. Instead, the M850i served as the starting point.

The aftermarket specialist believes the M850i is a better buy than the M8 Competition Coupé. Not only is it cheaper, but it also has more power. For example, G-Power increases the output of the twin-turbo V8 from a regular 530 hp to a whopping 670 hp. In addition, torque increases to an astonishing 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). These figures exceed those of the standard M8 Competition, and the speedometer has been reprogrammed to reflect the improved performance. The digital readout has been increased to 205 mph (330 km/h). With a new exhaust system featuring sports downpipes and a bespoke silencer, as well as an engine map ECU, we were able to significantly increase the performance of the M850i.
Those who are satisfied with 620 hp and 850 Newton metres from the 4.4-litre engine can have the necessary modifications (625 lb-ft) carried out by G-Power. The bespoke ECU costs €1,785 and the additional software €2,495 to bring the M850i up to this level of performance. What the tuner charges for the more powerful performance package is not known.
In addition to a significant increase in power and torque, the M850i can also look more aggressive. G-Power has introduced a redesigned carbon fibre bonnet with vents for better cooling. The huge wing at the rear, which is only connected to the coupé’s tailgate, is made of the same lightweight material as the front wing. Owners of the M850i can upgrade to forged wheels in 20 and 21-inch sizes to complete the look. The 255/30 front and 295/25 rear tyres on these new lightweight wheels are available in a range of colour options.
