The Brother XN1700 is a sewing machine with overhead bobbin and 17 stitch programs. The free-arm sewing machine is not only suitable for advanced sewers, but especially for beginners and children. We have rated the machine, which looks very chic in the colour combination white/pink.

In addition to the sewing machine itself and the operating instructions, a button sewing foot, a buttonhole foot, a presser foot, a needle set, a zipper foot, a darning plate, various bobbins, a foot pedal, a screwdriver and a cover are supplied. Which functions are offered?

With 37 stitches the XN1700 offers a decent offer. The basic stitches can be changed as desired, this is done by means of the stitch width and stitch length regulator. A four-step automatic buttonhole machine is also available, the same applies to the threading aid. With the foot control the speed is infinitely variable, and the wheel can be used to adjust the thread tension, stitch width and length. We liked the integrated sewing light, which is based on LED technology. We award 3 out of 5 stars.

How is the handling?

The Brother is easy to handle, convinces with its horizontal hook system and the manual upper thread tension the users on Amazon. Stitch selection is very easy with the help of a rotary control, they say. The maximum stitch width is 5 mm, the maximum stitch length 4 mm. Both can be adjusted, however. The only drawback is the missing display. The weight of 5 kg makes this model easy to transport. We award 3 of 5 stars.
