A New Standard in Binocular Precision

The Oberwerk 127XL-SD represents the pinnacle of binocular telescope design. Featuring 127mm (5″) FCD100/FK-61 apochromatic triplet objectives and a relatively-short 650mm focal length, it delivers exceptional sharpness, contrast, and true color across the entire field of view. Paired with 27mm clear-aperture prisms, this optical system gathers abundant light, revealing deep-sky targets with remarkable depth and realism — from the subtle structure of nebulae to the pinpoint brilliance of globular clusters and star fields..

Precision Engineering and Design

Crafted with a magnesium-alloy chassis, the 127XL-SD achieves both strength and balance while maintaining a manageable 24.5 lbs total weight. A newly redesigned mount includes a foot that is a Vixen-style dovetail, which makes it directly compatible with iOptron HAZ go-to mounts. The foot also includes 3/8″ and ¼” threaded holes for attaching a Manfrotto quick-release plate, or mounting to the XL-280 fork mount. The new mount design is repositioned to better match the 120XL’s center of gravity, and has a lower “stack height” to  improve balance and handling on every setup Shortened and positioned closer to the center of gravity, this new design enhances balance and stability for effortless handling.

A Picatinny top rail handle allows convenient mounting of red-dot finders, laser pointers, or other accessories, while extendable glare shields reduce stray light and protect the objectives from dew and dust. The ultra-wide 50–80mm IPD range ensures a perfect fit for any observer, maximizing comfort and alignment during long viewing sessions.

Dual helical focusers provide smooth, independent adjustment for each eye, and the chassis is finished in iridescent Luna Pearl White with gold anodized trim, reflecting Oberwerk’s commitment to both engineering precision and timeless design.

Complete Observation Kit

Included are 8-element, 14mm (46×) 70° AFOV eyepieces, offering wide, immersive fields of view. Optional 22mm (30×) and 7mm (93×) eyepiece pairs provide versatility for both wide-field and high-magnification observing. A heavy-duty wheeled hard case ensures secure storage and easy transport to your favorite dark-sky site.

Tested and Certified to Perfection

Each 127XL-SD is individually collimated, tested, and tuned by hand, with optical alignment certified to 163× (step <6 arcseconds). Backed by Oberwerk’s 5-year Limited Warranty, it reflects a legacy of precision craftsmanship and dependable performance that defines the XL Series.
