What can be different is your electricity bill. Provide same # of photons per second while using fewer watts. if you can get a more even blanket from a QB or an array of QBs, that'd be a plus. An array of cobs might be similar. if you ran them at lower wattage and used more of them, it may even be a more even blanket than a QB can get. Those actually have quite a hotspot in the center -- when speaking about 1 unit by itself. An array comes with its own dynamics. So in the end, the main difference is efficacy. I do now know the cree cob's umol/j. A good QB or bar-sty light using the smaller, midpower diodes spread out more will be around 2.8umol/J efficacy. Slip in osrams diodes and maybe 2.6-2.7. Cree xp-g3 photobost reds are the best to pair up with the samsung LM301B (B's tend to be cheaper than H's and it's is name only) efficacy - umol/J - proportionately 1:1 relation with your electric cost. if it's 20% more efficient it'll provide the same photons for less watts, or oyu can provide more photons at same watts, if you need more. Light has an upper limit.
