History[]

2019–2021: Pre-debut[]

Plans for the group were officially announced on March 7, 2019, through an Instagram post made by A team Entertainment's CEO Ryan Jhun.[3] That same day, six A team trainees (Eunchae, Rainie, Chaeeun, Choyeon, Hyunbin, and Suyeon) performed as part of the 2019 Miss Malaysia pageant's Gala Night where they were introducted as ISE, meaning "Innocent Sexy Eyes". It was widely believe the group would be slated to be sometime later in the year.

On December 31, 2019, handwritten profiles uploaded to A team Entertainment's trainee Instagram account revealed the group's potential members through baby photos and their initials: Eunchae ("E.C"), Rainie ("R.J"), Yoona ("Y.N."), Chaeeun ("C.E."), Choyeon ("C.Y."), Hyunbin ("H.B."), and Suyeon ("S.Y.").

In May 2020, Ryan Jhun announced that ISE's debut preparations were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic; thus, the group's debut, originally planned for March 2020, would be pushed back until 2021. Around this time, trainee Suyeon left A team Entertainment.

On May 30, 2021, Ryan Jhun revealed through an exclusive interview that ISE's official debut would take place in the fall of that year.[4] Three months later, on August 4, the company opened two TikTok accounts for then-unknown "Bug" and "Boo" units. By this time, another trainee, Choi Yunju, also left ISE and A team Entertainment.

2021: Debut with "BugAboo", fandom name reveal[]

On September 1, 2021, ISE, now promoting with the name BugAboo, released official logo motion and silhouette teasers. Moreover, it was revealed the group would be officially debuting sometime in October.[5] From September 1 to 3, promotional photos were posted to reveal the 6 debuting members. The order in which the members were revealed was: Choyeon, Yoona, Rainie, Zin (formerly Hyunbin), Eunchae, and Cyan (formerly Chaeeun).[6][7][8][9][10][11]

On October 3, a scheduler posted across the group's social medias revealed they would make their debut on October 25 with their first single album "BugAboo".[12] On this day, the single album, along with its title track of the same name, were released. Later that month, the group opened a public poll to select their official fandom name. Among the candidates were 'Rainboo', 'Myboo', 'Bloom', and 'Spooky'.[13]

On November 1, it was announced that the group's offical fandom name would be Rainboo.[1] As rainbows are often seen as signs of hope, the name 'Rainboo' means that when bugAboo and their fans meet, they will fill each other with hope.

2022–2023: First comeback with "Pop", disbandment, and "Bonita"[]

On May 5, 2022, A Team Entertainment announced that bugAboo was in the final stage of preparations for their first ever comeback - slated for a June release.[14] Weeks later, on May 24, a teaser posted across the group's social medias revealed their second single album, titled "Pop", will be released on June 13.[15]

On December 8, 2022, A team announced the group's disbandment after deciding to terminate the group's contract and future activities.[2]

On January 28, 2023, the song "Bonita" was released as the second OST track for the webtoon Yeolguk Scandal and served as their final release.[16]

Aftermath[]

On February 28, 2023, it was announced that Choyeon and Eunchae had signed an exclusive contract with Carrie TV.[17]

Later, on May 16, 2023, A.O Entertainment announced that Rainie would be joining their girl group PRIMROSE.[18] She made her debut with PRIMROSE on August 18, 2023 with the release of their second mini album Laffy Taffy.

On October 16, 2023, Inyeon Entertainment announced that Cyan, now known by her full name Lee Chae Eun, had signed with them as an actress.[19] On July 7, 2024, Daisy Music announced that Cyan would be making her solo debut with the digital single "If I had another day with you", set to be released on July 10.

It is also known that member Yoona returned to Japan, while member Zin seems to have returned to an ordinary life.
