#1 · Jan 6, 2011 My 2005 93 1.9 tid 150 bhp has been comming up with "Stability Control Failure Contact Service", had this problem for about a month now and just managed to get my OP COM on the system resulting it the following fault: Identifier: 0x0301 Hardware number:12801327 System name: ESP EBC430 Part Number:12801324 Software version number: 00C3552E Hardware key number: System description: TRW 0300 Alpha code: AA Total number of fault codes: 1 C0460 - Steering Angle Sensor Circuit Malfunction (11) - Not present Has anyone come accross this before, can give me a pointer on the location of steering angle sensor? Any help will be appreciated. Cheers See less See more Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Jan 6, 2011 I believe it is part of the CIM (Column Integration Module) and if reported as missing, the CIM is knackered. #3 · Jan 6, 2011 Cheers for quick response, I have had the drive shaft out, plus an auto lock smith has reprogrammed my cim unit and a new set of keys due to damage on the only working key. Could this be the cause, meaning cim unit? #4 · Jan 6, 2011 Could be the fact that the auto locksmith has messed with the CIM and that has caused the Steering angle sensor to throw an error, may just need the SaS module re-adding. Get a Saab Tech II unit on it at a dealer or independent specialist to be sure. #6 · Jan 8, 2011 Ooooo, good answer! That's pretty much exactly what the WIS says! After messing with the CIM the module needs to be re-added. (silently prays that his next car has a USB port, wi-fi, or some other kind of user-hackable interface instead of proprietary nonsense like the Tech2) Show more replies 0 Reply #5 · Jan 6, 2011 Thanks again I'll have this checked out, do you know if this an exspensive job? #7 · Jan 8, 2011 Steering angle sensor/clocksprings, as well as turn and wiper switches can be replaced fairly easily, sparing a CIM replacement. #9 · Feb 4, 2012 Where does one get a replacement steering angle sensor? Dealership says complete CIM required to fix faulty steering angle sensor. Show more replies 0 Reply #12 · Jan 17, 2013 Post # 162129 is the best to see the innards of a CIM. Great job to anzollo and steen for the photos. Windshield wiper and turn switches as well as clockspring and steering angle sensors can be replaced without resorting to a new CIM. Its fairly easy...but clocksprings and steering angle sensors may require recalibration with Tech 2, but no security access/TIS is needed. #15 · Dec 10, 2014 Opcom I got my op-com 2010V from diyobd2.fr €17.00 only, came to my door a week later after i ordered, #16 · Jun 21, 2015 finally i fixed the problem finally after few month i fix the angle sensor just i bud an use CIM from 2003 saab 93 sedan and i opened taking out the angle sensor and i replaced with my car angle sensor sorry my writing is not good just i live the pic on the topic Gauge Speedometer Auto part Tachometer Wheel Auto part Technology Car Vehicle Wheel Electronics Technology Electronic engineering Electronic device Electronic component Finger Shoe Auto part Rotor Automotive wheel system Rim Wheel no more Stability Control Failure #17 · Jun 21, 2015 was it a straight swap or did you need a tech2? #18 · Jun 21, 2015 Hi there you need tech to for calibration the angle sensor and clear DTC fult code by tech 2 I working care fully on the car take long time but I Don #19 · Oct 10, 2016 I thought I would share my Stability Control Failure story as well as my steering angle sensor fix that resolved it. Issue: At first intermittently, but then consistently, my 2006 9-3 Aero Sportcombi would give me a Stability Control Failure message within the first minute or so of my drive, usually cornering slowly in the parking lot--steering both to the left and right. No errors at start-up, only when I was driving. Process: I took it to the garage shop Indianapolis Saab mechanic and they hadn't seen this issue yet and weren't sure where to start other than clearing the codes and calibrating the sensor. Neither worked. Issue still there. Fix: I followed the instructions of replacing the steering angle sensor within the CIM by buying a used CIM off of eBay for my donor. Pretty easy fix, just be careful with the long pins when reassembling otherwise your airbag will give you another warning. Once reassembled, the vehicle gives the Stability Control Failure message at start-up. This let me know something was different. Another trip to the guy with the Tech2 and they cleared the codes, re-calibrated my new sensor and VIOLA! No more errors.
