From what I understand, the C63 coupe will be about 150lbs lighter than the sedan. However, if that weight reduction is coming from the rear, the 0-60 times might not improve, as the car may be a little more difficult to launch because of traction issues. As far as if a C63 coupe will be faster than an F10 M5... it is all speculation. Although I would imagine the F10 M5 being able to put up sub 4 second 0-60 times given the right road surface. I still have some hope that the F10's 0-60 time is REALLY conservative and the power figures are also underrated significantly. I'll still bet that the F10 M5 will be faster than the C63 AMG Coupe PP Package. #6 · Jun 17, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised if when people test the F10 independently it's a shade faster than what BMW quotes it at, and that's all we're talking about in the case. I think people expecting under 4 seconds are going to be disappointed though. The current M5 is a better performer at higher speeds due to gearing and the nature of the motor, and I wouldn't be surprised if the F10 continued somewhat in these footsteps. The lower weight should give the C63 the advantage in acceleration from a standing stop, but on the highway, I would hope the F10 pulls away as it has 70 more hp. On the other hand it seems that AMG has significantly raised it's game in the handling department, so I wouldn't sleep on them in that regard. #11 · Jun 17, 2011

Click to expand...BMW is notoriously conservative with their estimates. Every generation M5 that I've ever seen is always .4-.5 sec faster than the BMW estimate. Same with the other times, 0-100 etc. Not all companies do this, but the Germans are known for it. Caddy gives the "real" time etc...So I fully expect the F10 to be 3.8-4.0 seconds. Also, keep in mind that the e60 strokers are putting down 3.8s 0-60 times with much less torque. I expect the F10 will be of similar performance to the stroker. BMW is simply doing more with less. 560hp doesnt sound like much. The weight sounds heavy...BUT, I guarantee it will be MUCH faster than a stock e60 in a straight line and on the race track. It'll be better in every way and much easier/cheaper to tune. Still love the V10 though! As for the C63 coupe, why are we even comparing the 2? One is a big 4 door sedan and the other is a 3 door coupe. The M3 is what it should be compared to. 0 Reply #7 · Jun 17, 2011 (Edited) With the tall gearing (relative to the Porsche Panarama), there's no way the F10 M5 will break 4 sec in 0 - 60. However, on today's roads, 0 - 60 is no longer relevant as much as 50 - 80 acceleration on the highway, which the F10 excels in 3.6 sec in 3rd gear. #8 · Jun 17, 2011 sorry ///pete i have to say the E60 m5 and the F10 is going to be very different in the power delivery. BMW is claiming peak torque in the F10 to start at a low !500 rpm zero turbo lag system as compare to the E60 m5 4500 rpm peak. I am hopping its going to be a street light beast of a car. #9 · Jun 17, 2011 I agree with you about the power delivery, and I think you will definitely notice that driving the F10 around the streets. I was talking about racing the C63 where both have similar power to weight ratios, I wouldn't be surprised if the lower weight of the C gives it an edge in acceleration (I think that is borne out in the original post?) but the extra power of the F10 will give it the advantage from a rolling start.
