II. Cách dùng

1. Dùng "opposite" như giới từ (preposition)

1.1. Mang nghĩa "đối diện (về vị trí)"

=across from or facing someone or something

=together with someone else as the other of the two main actors in a play or film

2. Dùng "opposite" như tính từ (adj)

2.1. Mang nghĩa "đối diện nhau về mặt vị trí"

=across from or on the other side of someone or something

• the opposite side/end/edge to sth

• On the opposite side of the road from the school was the church.
• A picture on the opposite page caught her attention.
• They sat at opposite ends of the room.

2.2. Nghĩa bóng "đối nhau, ngược nhau, ngược lại"

=completely different

Mang nghĩa "đối diện, trước mặt nhau về mặt vị trí"

=on the other side of an area from someone or something and facing towards them

4. Dùng "opposite" như danh từ (noun)

Mang nghĩa "điều trái ngược; sự đối lập"

=someone or something that is completely different from someone or something else
