Canon G7X Mark III Review

The G7X Mark III is a great little camera with bags of features and charm. It’s a pocket-friendly shooter with a one-inch sensor, great image and video quality, and a host of features that appeal to both stills and video shooters. At £700 it’s not cheap, so if you’re on a budget, check out the older model if you don’t need the advanced video features.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III Review

In summary, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and III cameras apart side-by-side, but in practice they’re very different beasts, with the latest III version upping the ante particularly for keen videographers, making it a serious rival indeed to the market-leading Cyber-shot RX100…

Canon PowerShot G7X III review

As such while there’s some inevitable frustrations, Canon has debuted a number of unique features that will make the G7X III as popular as its predecessors. If you mostly shoot photos, you’ll prefer the longer zoom and viewfinder of the G5X II which still manages to undercut the RX100 VA, but if your focus is vlogging and general use without breaking the bank, the G7X III comes Highly Recommended.

Canon Powershot G7 X III Review

The Canon Powershot G7 X Mark III offers some excellent new features, that will make it an obvious choice for video.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III review

Canon has stuck to a winning formula with the G7 X Mark III, keeping the neat, rectangular, pocket-friendly design of its predecessor but adding much more powerful video capabilities for a new generation of blogging/vlogging enthusiasts. The only downsides are the lack of a viewfinder (but maybe you don’t need one?) and the price.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III review

The PowerShot G7 X Mark III faces some strong competition from the likes of Sony and Panasonic, but with a longer-than-usual lens, great handling and a whole suite of niceties for videographers, it succeeds in offering enough to warrant its place in a populated section of the market.

Canon PowerShot G7 X III initial review: Designed for vloggers

Overall, the G7 X III carves out its own unique position, straddling both stills and video with a leaning towards the latter. If a pocketable, hand-holdable stills camera with a mic input is precisely what you want then you won’t find anything else on the market to cater for your needs.
