Centre For Novel Agricultural Products - University Of York
Centre for Novel Agricultural Products Using world-leading bioscience to provide sustainable supplies of food, energy and chemicals.
We use cutting-edge research to harness the power of nature for the development of new products and processes.
The Centre for Novel Agricultural Products (CNAP) aims to realise the potential of plant, microbial and algal-based renewable resources through gene discovery. From developing sustainable food crops and biofuels to advancing plants for land decontamination, we maximise the value of plants without compromising food security.

Networks
We play a leading role in BBSRC Networks in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy (NIBB).
We currently lead two of the Phase II NIBB:
- High Value Biorenewables Network (HVB) led by CNAP's Professor Ian Graham
- Biomass Biorefinery Network (BBNet) led by CNAP's Professor Neil Bruce
We also hosted two of the Phase I NIBB.
