Hi all, Newbie who has just bought his first caddy, a 2013 1.6 tdi. Have owned 3 Mk2 golfs in the past, been wanting another vw for ages, but have been lumbered with a fiesta as a company car for a few years :( On killing the ignition the display shows the message "check safelock", is that something that has been custom coded for the previous owner? Could it point to its previous life? Most facelift Caddy and Transporter vans do that, apparently it's supposed to be a reminder not to lock any passengers in the back? Does yours have Kombi seats? How odd! No rear seats but a rock'n'roll bed is one of the things on the wish list, very far down at the moment. After initially getting the security beefed up its next a choice between a respray or a wrap. Does anyone know if you need to inform the dvla if you change the colour of a van by wrapping it? Or is it classed as a temporary measure? Yeah all new VW's say it. I bet someone locked their car/van and it deadlocks on first press of the key fob and someone got trapped in a fire inside or something and VW got sued. Daft really. I shit my self the first time I worked on a new caddy fitting an alarm, I thought I had put up an error code lol 2006 VW Caddy 2K. You don't "have to" inform dvla but they like to be notified of the "temporary" colour change to put a note on their system for Police database incase your car is stolen, they will have a note saying it's wrapped.
