Chiang Mai HHH Outstation — Hive

One of the things that we like to organize here in our Chiang Mai Hash House Harriers group is outstations and if you don't yet know what that is I'm about to tell you, keep your pants on.

An Outstation is where we choose some place, normally scenic and not too far away that is Hash friendly, and we got and find a mid-range resort of some sort out there and then we go as a group and stay for a few nights. During this time we also will organize daily hash runs with the hares normally doing a lot of work to scout an area that they are unfamiliar with to make trails for us.

These tend to be quite a fun experience because we basically take over a resort and have the place to ourselves if enough people are interested and since the lodge or resort probably knows the area very well, they will normally be able to tell us if there are certain areas that are "off limits" because of mean land owners or something like that.

This next outstation is taking us to Baanpong Lodge, which is located a mere 30 km East of downtown Chiang Mai but is a very quiet and relatively untouched part of the area next to a large reservoir.

This area is just perfect for runs because there are plenty of established walking trails since the reservoir serves as a nature reserve of sorts but there is also plenty of relatively unused land for us to do our usual twists and turns that are what make hashing so much fun to begin with.

The lodge also has a pool and a pretty fantastic bar and we have arranged for discounts since we are going to be drinking so much of it. They are, as you would expect with any tourism oriented business during the country's lockdown, very excited to have a group as large as ours coming and they have stated, at least at the time we contacted them, that we are the only people that are staying during the proposed dates. So basically we are going to have the place to ourselves.

I feel as though most of our members have already been made aware of this but there is still room for more to come if you wanna be one of those last-minute people that annoy the hell out of the rest of us.
