Chucky Season 2: Release Date, Cast, And More - Slash Film

Movies Chucky Season 2: Release Date, Cast, And More Chucky in the Chucky Series USA and Syfy By BJ ColangeloJuly 14, 2022 4:33 pm EST

Our favorite pint-sized killer is coming back with more bloodshed, body counts, and bad words for season 2 of "Chucky." The series is a direct and canonical continuation of the events in the "Child's Play" franchise, with Chucky now terrorizing the citizens of Hackensack, New Jersey as heroes new and old try to stop him. The first season saw Chucky invading the Wheeler family after bullied teen Jake Wheeler found him at a yard sale, culminating in his foiled master plan to unleash an army of malicious Chucky dolls in children's hospitals all across the country. The second season comes less than a year from the end of the first, which ended on a massive cliffhanger regarding the fates of characters like Tiffany Valentine, Nica Pierce, and of course, Chucky himself. While we wait for our friend til' the end to return, here's everything you need to know before "Chucky" season 2 drops this fall.

Chucky season 2 release date and where you can watch it

As was the case with last season, "Chucky" season 2 will play simultaneously on USA and Syfy, beginning on October 5, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. New episodes of the show will debut weekly, and eventually wind up on Peacock following the season's finale. If you're a cord cutter like me, I utilized the subscription streamer Sling last year, which offers a program with access to both channels' live cable broadcast. Something else to keep in mind when watching "Chucky" is to keep up with Syfy's YouTube channel, as they often upload behind-the-scenes interviews, exclusive preview clips, and plenty more supplemental material to keep your Chucky cup overflowing between episodes.

What to expect from Chucky season 2

All of the questions the season 1 finale sparked will hopefully be answered, but it's been confirmed that the new season will also mark the return of "Seed of Chucky" star, the genderfluid icon Glen/Glenda. The doll is the child of Chucky and Tiffany, and was the center of one of the most memorable moments of season 1. Jake Wheeler is a young gay kid and when Chucky tells him he has no problem with him being queer, he mentions having a genderfluid kid. Jake is shocked to hear that Chucky is accepting, to which the sociopathic murdering doll says, "I'm not a monster, Jake." It's clear that similarly to season 1's explorations of the struggles of coming of age as a queer kid, season 2's addition of Glen/Glenda will open the door to conversations surrounding gender identity.

But of course, "Chucky" is also here to bring the mayhem. Season 1 star Devon Sawa is coming back despite having been killed off (twice), and I secretly hope this becomes a running gag of Sawa coming back each season as a new character just to get killed in weird ways by Chucky. Based on the teaser, we'll once again get a Halloween episode, so place your bets now as to whether or not they can top Chucky's Hello Kitty costume from last season.

The stars of Chucky season 2

Zackary Arthur and Björgvin Arnarson in Chucky USA and Syfy

Brad Dourif, who has voiced Chucky since the very first "Child's Play" film, and Jennifer Tilly will both be back for "Chucky" season 2, alongside Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler, Björgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans, Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross, Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce (and maybe again as Charles Lee Ray?), Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, Christine Elise as Kyle, and Barbara Alyn Woods as Mayor Michelle Cross. Excitingly, there are some new faces that are sure to keep the show as weirdly meta as possible, including Meg Tilly ("Psycho 2," "Body Snatchers"), Gina Gershon ("Bound," "Killer Joe"), Joe Pantoliano ("Memento"), Tony Nappo ("Saw II"), and Sutton Stracke ("Real Housewives"). A lot of the new faces are people connected to Jennifer Tilly in real life, which expands the "Chucky" lore in "real life" even further. As previously mentioned, Devon Sawa will be back to play a new character, Lara Jean Chorostecki (NBC's "Hannibal") has signed on in an undisclosed role, and non-binary actor Lachlan Watson has joined the cast to play the genderfluid Glen/Glenda.

The Chucky season 2 creative team and more

Don Mancini behind the scenes of Chucky Syfy

"Child's Play" and "Chucky" creator Don Mancini continues his legacy as the only creative to be involved with every canonical entry of a major horror franchise, returning as an executive producer for season 2. Additional EPs include David Kirschner, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, and Harley Peyton. "Chucky" is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
