Topic for Assignment 3 Individual Report – Recommendation 

• Assume that you just started your work as Consultant in a multinational consultancy company. Among the clients are some of the best known corporations which require your company’s advice on a broad array of management issues.
• To evaluate your skills your line manager gives you the following assignment: Pick any one corporation of your free choice that has operation in Vietnam and identify its single most important issue, challenge or opportunity, i.e. the issue that bears greatest significance for the company’s future. (For instance, what would Apple’s greatest challenge be at this point in time?) Don’t pick a case that has been resolved, such as GM’s bankruptcy.
• Describe how that issue, challenge, or opportunity impacts on that corporation’s market position, sustainable economic success, profit, and any other parameter you deem important.
• Employ concepts, methods and theories learned from this course to argue how that problem can be solved in order to secure and enhance that corporation’s market position, sustainable economic success, and profit and any other parameters, such as stakeholders that you deemed important in your analysis.
• Use that corporation’s business reports, trade journals, and any other publicly available information from any print and/or electronic media, to provide evidence for your findings.

 Format of Assignment 3 Individual Report

 Your report must cover the below areas:

1. Overview of the issue/challenge/opportunity
2. Background of the company
3. Background of the industry
4. Overivew of the issue/opportunity of the client company leading to a plausible thesis statement
5. Analysis of the specific issue/challenge/opportunity
6. Analyse the issue/challenge/opportunity root causes for your specific client company
7. Synthesize the findings from your analysis into the commentary. It is strongly recommend you to use analysis tools such as PESTLE, Porter’s 5 forces, Ishikawa Fishborn diagram, rich picture, etc… to support your analysis. Tools/diagrams should be placed in the appendices.
8. Clear Project Objectives/aims are given (these should be clearly related to the identified issue/challenge/opportunity and your recommendations should show how you plan to achieve these objectives/aims).
9. Literature review should be embedded in this section. Review the literature critically; focusing on expert and academic views on the themes identified for your client company. Use a good mix of sources with at least 2 high quality articles related to the selected issue/challenge/opportunity
10. Recommendations / Implementation
11. Outline and support your recommendations with evidence to justify why you think your solutions/recommendations will work
12. Show ability to test the feasibility of your recommendations. You must use at least 1 solution feasibility testing tool which should be placed in the appendices.
13. Outline the implementation of your recommendations and how they will be implemented, E.g. Project financing considerations;
14. Gantt chart is strongly recommended to show the action plan and steps for implementation
15. Literature review should be embedded in this section as well. Review the literature critically; focusing on expert and academic views on your recommendations. This should be in academic style.Use a good mix of sources with at least 2 high quality articles related to the selected problems/opportunities

3. Accurate referencing in Harvard style
4. Good mix of valid sources
5. Well formatted appendices in the correct referral order
6. Statement of Authorship (SoA)

Important Notes

• You will be penalized for going over the word count. Min. word count: 2000 words, Max word count = 2500 words (excl assignment cover page & reference list). The penalty for going over the word count is 10% per 100 words.
