If you’re looking to increase your income and enhance your professional HGV driving CV, a step up to an HGV Cat C+E licence/Class 1 licence is the route to take. Unlike a lower level Cat C licence – the standard for most professional drivers – an HGV Cat C+E allows you to drive a vehicle weighing over 7.5t, that has a detachable or a separate trailer. This licence is also referred as Class 1 Licence. So if you ever see a job calling for a Class 1 licence, you know it means you need your HGV Cat C+E for that particular role.

HGV CAT C+E LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

First of all, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid LGV CAT C or Class 2 Licence.
There are some additional steps you then need to take in order to start training, including getting a provisional licence, take a medical test, do a theory exam, and gain your periodic CPC certification.
To keep your licence current, you should also undertake 35 hours of periodic CPC training every 5 years.

If you’re already an experienced Cat C driver, and want to see what your earning potential might be, then a step up to Cat C+E will give you a wider choice of higher paid jobs. You might also be a freshly qualified Cat C licence holder keen to work your way up as fast as possible, or you might have neither and want to book your training so you can do one right after the other with our back to back training.

If you're a CAT C licence holder you don't need medical & theory test. But if you're doing our Back-to-Back course we will cover this for you.
We will train you for up to 20 hours behind the wheel and prepare you for your final DVSA Test
We will also train you for your Periodic Driver CPC Certification.
