JimmyCorkhill J Hi,I have a Golf TDI SE PD 2004,engine code BKC.The clutch pedal bite point is very low,and when the pedal comes up,it sticks a bit around half way then springs up the rest of way.VW say its my clutch master cylinder thats faulty. As thats being replaced ,I thought I may aswell change the slave cylinder too,too eliminate all the hydraulic potential problems, but I heard some are on the inside of the bell housing. Can anyone confirm where the slave cylinder is located on this car?VW also say my DMF is failing too,but the only evidence is a tiny squeak on startup, which I can barely notice, but I`m more worried about the low bite point at the moment. #1 · Sep 10, 2013 (Edited by Moderator) Hi,I have a Golf TDI SE PD 2004,engine code BKC.The clutch pedal bite point is very low,and when the pedal comes up,it sticks a bit around half way then springs up the rest of way.VW say its my clutch master cylinder thats faulty. Slave cylinder is around £70 for a genuine part. The bite point would probably be the clutch more than anything. #6 · Sep 11, 2013 Yeh,70 is exactly what VW just quoted me.Decided to just try the master cylinder first though. When you say bite point is clutch, you mean clutch plate or what? I have no clutch slip at all,its just that when you let clutch pedal out in gear, the pulling off point is very low.and also the pedal sticks a bit on way up,the springs the rest of way. #7 · Sep 11, 2013 That will probably be the slave cylinder, with the pedal sticking. Try bleeding it through first but there is a spring in there Image #8 · Sep 25, 2013 Yes it was the slave cylinder causing pedal to stick.Changed the master cylinder first, some improvement to bite point, but pedal still sticking, then replaced slave with OEM part, problem solved!Surprised the slave is made of plastic though, lol thats asking for trouble. Thanks for replies guys Image #9 · Sep 25, 2013 Yeah it is made of plastic we broke one fitting. I dont think you can buy aftermarket metal parts but as long as you are gentle with the bleed nipple you are ok. Insert Quotes Post Reply
