CMI Defense and BAE Systems Hägglunds presented a new medium tank 23 2014 June 37 018 61 At the international arms and equipment exhibition Eurosatory 2014, which closed on Friday, several leading global companies presented their new developments. Thus, the Belgian CMI Defence and the Swedish BAE Systems Hägglunds showed their new medium танк, in the design of which several original ideas were used. According to the company CMI Defence, the task of the new project was to create a promising medium tank with a relatively small combat weight, high mobility and great flexibility of use. The project received the index CV90105.To ensure high performance, as well as to reduce the cost of production, the promising tank CV90105 was created on the basis of existing designs. The CV90 infantry fighting vehicle of the Swedish design was taken as the basis for a new type of vehicle. This BMP is in operation for about 20 years and mastered by the armed forces of several countries, which should positively affect the prospects of the new medium tank. It is proposed to install a Belgian-made Cockerill XC-8 combat module on the base machine chassis. The armament and all necessary electronic equipment is installed on this tower. In addition, in the tower are the jobs of the crew.It is alleged that the combat mass of the new medium tank CV90105 is within 25 tons. Machine dimensions are the same as in the case of the base BMP. The chassis is equipped with a Scania diesel engine with power up to 810 HP. With such a power plant, the machine is able to reach speeds up to 70 km / h on the highway. The chassis is equipped with seven track rollers with a torsion bar on each side. The layout of the base infantry fighting vehicle facilitated the construction of a medium tank at its base. The engine compartment of the CV90105 is located in front of the hull. At the left side there is a separation of management with the workplace of the driver. Cockerill XC-8 tower is installed on the chassis of the base chassis. The volume of the BMP assault squad is dedicated to the placement of additional equipment.Cockerill XC-8 combat module is a tower with weapons, all the necessary equipment and jobs of two crew members: the commander and the gunner. The tower has a recognizable shape formed by armor plates connected at different angles. For storage of ammunition combat module received a developed feed niche. On the roof of the tower, to the left of the gun, there is a rotary block of the optical-electronic system of the commander, designed to monitor the situation and, if necessary, guide the gun. To the right of the gun on the turret, a similar system is installed that the gunner must use. According to reports, the commander and gunner have dual-channel (day and night) sights, as well as a laser rangefinder. The armament of the CV90105 medium tank depends on the customer's wishes. The XC-8 turret can be equipped with a 105 mm rifled gun or a 120 mm smoothbore gun. The new turret is equipped with an original weapon installation system that provides large vertical aiming angles. The maximum elevation angle reaches +42 °, thanks to which the combat vehicle will be able to fire effectively in difficult conditions, for example, in the mountains or in the city. High-pressure guns with a low recoil impulse allow the use of the entire range of ammunition of the corresponding caliber. To hit targets at ranges of up to 5 kilometers, the promising tank will be able to use guided missiles Falarick 105 or Falarick 120, developed in Ukraine (Luch State Design Bureau, Kyiv). The Cockerill XC-8 turret is equipped with a two-plane weapon stabilizer, which increases the accuracy of firing from a cannon and a rifle caliber machine gun paired with it. Another way to improve performance, as well as reduce the overall weight of the machine has become automatic loader. Automatic mechanisms for the crew’s command must independently remove the ammunition from the ammunition and send it to the gun chamber. Due to this, the firing rate of the gun can be increased and the dimensions of the tower can be reduced due to the absence of a loader.Medium tank CV90105 joint Swedish-Belgian development while being tested. As stated in a CMI Defense press release, the combination of the newest Cockerill XC-9 combat module and the proven CV90 chassis will be a major step in the field of middle-class armored vehicles designed for direct fire. The proposed armored vehicle, thanks to its armament and control systems, will have good combat characteristics, while relatively small combat mass and dimensions will provide high tactical and strategic mobility. In addition, due to the use of developed components it is supposed to ensure high reliability of operation of different systems.Prospects for the new medium tank remain unknown. In recent years, there has been some interest in the world in this class of armored vehicles, to which some manufacturers of combat vehicles have responded with the development of several new projects. It is argued that these machines may be interesting for small countries with limited financial capabilities, in need of modern armored vehicles. What will be the future of the new medium tank CV90105 - it will become clear later. Negotiations on the future supply of such equipment can begin at any time.On the materials of the sites:http://cmigroupe.com/http://army-guide.com/http://vpk.name/ Our news channels

  1. tchoni tchoni +5 23 June 2014 10: 04 I liked it: the device can shoot with large elevation angles. This makes this machine very versatile. What are the doubts: there are suspicions that the mass of this device is closely approaching 40 tons. And this means that this is already a normal MBT, and not a medium tank. And further. The appearance of such a tank (if it is adopted for service) will indicate that the concept of a super-protected heavy tank did not fully justify itself.

It is possible to install any combat modules and use them as armored personnel carriers, self-propelled mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, evacuation vehicles, command vehicles, air defense vehicles, ambulances, and it is proposed to install many combat modules, both manned and remotely operated, of various calibers!!!

The upcoming tank movie with Brad Pitt, Fury (released November 2014), features the most famous surviving Tiger in the world, the 131st Tiger from the museum in Bovington, England. How did you manage to get the Royal Museum workers to give such a rarity to the needs of the Tenth Muse (budget is small -80 million dollars ... :) -only Hollywood producers are aware !! ?? :). Well, maybe at least from a technical point of view the film will turn out to be sane, because our white tiger, both from a patriotic, and from a technical, and from the tactics of conducting tank battles, resembles the delirium of a madman! The film "In War as in War" is a million times more beautiful than all modern crafts put together! And Russian craftsmen have already made a replica of a Tiger on the move, all that remains is to make a really sensible film about our Hero Tankers!

Anyway, it will not hold normal ammunition, and the RPG is guaranteed to pierce. There is no MBT, hyper ACS. In our case, the "Judge" has not been accepted into service, it is easier to put such a weapon system on a lighter chassis.

  5. Alf Alf +5 23 June 2014 11: 21 The experience of WWII showed that only heavily armored and heavily armed tanks can ensure combat stability for infantry. The experience of post-war conflicts also showed that lightly armored AMX-13 tanks do not fulfill their promises and instead of dashing forward, they are more busy looking for cover on the battlefield, while the slow but well-protected Challenger tanks feel great under fire. The Swedes at one time had high hopes for the 103rd, so what? Not a tank, not a self-propelled gun. Only a gun with high ballistics with a caliber of at least 120-125 mm can fight targets on the battlefield, only such a caliber is capable of providing a good high-explosive projectile action. The good armor-piercing action of the projectile is ensured by the high initial velocity of the projectile, which can only be provided by a gun with high ballistics. The use of anti-tank missiles is not profitable primarily on the basis of the cost-effectiveness criterion.

Experience of fighting in Africa has shown that the most popular tanks are T-54, 55, 62. That is, something simple and cheap, and also very RELIABLE and REPAIRABLE.Why would such a tank have a super guidance system if a half-grammatical Negro sits in the turret, why would he need a complex and capricious gas turbine if a monkey got down from a baobab yesterday at the levers? What reliability can such a tank have if the tanks are filled with not "what is supposed to", but "what is burning"?
  7. teron teron +1 23 June 2014 12: 09 We made heavy, expensive MBTs, which are essentially anti-tank self-propelled guns, now we need something easier and cheaper. Here it is, with weak armor and a tank caliber - why is it? And then we smoothly come to Russian tanks - they are both easier and cheaper, and more flexible in use.

The level of protection of the presented "medium" tank is sufficient only against small-caliber small arms fire and that's it.

  17. gregor6549 gregor6549 +2 23 June 2014 18: 06 The article fails to mention the fact that this tank is supposed to be equipped, among other things, with components of a unified automated battlefield command and control system that allows the tank crew to receive real-time target designations from above, from neighboring tanks and from tank-supporting units (infantry, artillery, engineering troops, etc.), share with them data obtained by its own (tank) surveillance equipment and conduct all the necessary calculations required to prepare and fire at ground and air targets (helicopters, attack aircraft, etc.) in the shortest possible time. Placing the diesel engine in the nose section of the chassis is also not the worst technical solution. This provides additional protection for the crew and the engine is covered more solidly than when placed in the stern section. The lessons learned during the development and combat use of the Israeli Merkavas clearly had an effect here.
    1. Alf Alf +1 23 June 2014 18: 35 That's right, but an automated system will not replace thick armor and powerful guns.
      1. gregor6549 gregor6549 +3 23 June 2014 18: 41 With this, for this class of tank, everything is also at a level, especially since it does not pretend to be a MBT. Again, thick armor has never saved anyone and sometimes even got in the way. And the gun caliber is not always the main thing. With an optimal combination of caliber, gun length and effective ammunition, 105 will do just fine. The main thing here is not to try to solve all the problems, To each his own. MBT has its own tasks, and such a tank has its own, At least as an anti-tank weapon and a means of direct support for tanks, such a mechanism will do just fine. Well, what is important is that it is created on the basis of an existing tracked platform, and this is a big saving in both money and time.

    1. Oleg Gor Oleg Gor 0 10 July 2014 05: 28 The upper part is removable, I think, for mounting / disassembling the gun. And hang, perhaps, will be the same as on the front of the case.
  19. kplayer kplayer +4 23 June 2014 20: 30 After all, primarily a reconnaissance tank. For example, it could well have entered service with the Belgian ground forces to replace the Leopard-1 MBT, but they limited themselves to the Pirana (8x8) with a 105-mm cannon, a cheaper wheeled vehicle, with a high silhouette and with less traffic and survivability. There is a continuing trend towards the formation of "heavy" reconnaissance (armored cavalry) units equipped with a lighter and cheaper alternative to MBT (including "wheeled tanks"), operating in conjunction with combat reconnaissance vehicles (BRM, including on a single unified chassis), based on the BMP and armored personnel carriers. Compared to the MBT, the vehicle has a lighter weight and dimensions and is airborne, a more or less widespread C-17 transporter, i.e. may well act to reinforce the same striker brigades in the 18th (airborne) corps of the SBR. The need for such machines is in the United States, given that the program for the creation of the M8 airborne tank (AGS) was stopped, which was positioned to replace the outdated Sheridan tank of a similar purpose. This sample, although not airborne, but landing by landing method is possible. I also admit the purchase of a tank by a number of countries, former allies of the USSR, to replace the obsolete (or inappropriate NATO standards in armament) T-72.Quote: gregor6549Placing a diesel engine in the bow of the chassis is also not the worst of those. decision. Here the lessons learned in the development and combat use of the Israeli Merkavas clearly affected. In terms of layout, there are no technical solutions and the creators were not at all guided by the experience of using the "Merkava", the car is simply based on the Swedish CV90 BMP, similar vehicles based on serial BMP and armored personnel carriers, precisely as a unified family of armored vehicles from the 80s created from a dozen, starting from Argentine cf. tank TAM (BMP "Marder"), etc., but most of them were created as export vehicles and did not appear anywhere, and the demo models did not go further (versions of the French BMP MARS, Spanish-Austrian BMP ASCOD, British BMP MCV- 80 "Urrior", Swiss armored personnel carriers "Pirana" series, 8x8, 10x10), the CV90 had an earlier version with a different turret.Quote: Kirthere are two protruding "ribs" with technological holes on the front projection of the tower, just like that?Lugs (visible on the roof of the tower, apparently there is also aft in the stern, crew hatches are hidden in the wells) for mounting and removing extra. spaced reservations using the BREM load-lifting boom. 21. Coltxnumx Coltxnumx +4 23 June 2014 21: 18 With great interest I read the comments of specialists of the armored forces. Thank you. But answer the question: what has been done to protect the armored vehicles on the march from sniper ambushes. Mine-explosive threats. air flights. helicopters. tactical missiles, are there any instructions on the location in the convoy of means of protection against all this and electronic warfare? Are there any technical means to lower the tank (other equipment) from the railway platforms in the conditions of an undermined platform. With a high embankment, etc., or is it a target? Often I see equipment from various sources on the march, they go together, like a bull peeing. Neither patrols (and side) nor UAVs, after all, even in peacetime is all training. Is there a damn thing in analytics? why don’t they think over all the threats? Sorry for the simplicity. Does anyone from the Moscow Defense Ministry read our military review, or is it all in the sand?
  22. Peacemaker Peacemaker +1 23 June 2014 21: 25 Sorry for being a bit off topic. But I noticed that this tank doesn't have rear view mirrors. I recently argued with former tank crews that some modern tanks do have mirrors. Experienced: the tank doesn't have rear view mirrors because those in the tank in front have a viewing slit and don't need anything else. For example, the most expensive tank is the XK2 Black Panther of the South Korean Armed Forces, Leclerc, etc. So here's the question: Are rear view mirrors needed in a tank and why? Thank you in advance for your answers.

You apparently do not have a topographic map of the area and, apparently, there is no route and object (task and plan) of reconnaissance. Further, in the spirit of "if only, if only": how about a foot reconnaissance in October-November, or on thin ice "That's it, reconnaissance is over"? Why did the river come as a surprise? - you are not a scout, but rather a discoverer, because special attention is paid to water obstacles as a factor constraining the maneuverability of troops. History knows examples of the failure of military campaigns without appropriate topographic preparation and planning. Vulnerability due to the possible difficulty of (wheeled) vehicles coming out of the water to the shore, low speed of movement, openness on the water surface and near the coastline, not every water barrier is suitable for crossing with floating armored vehicles, without appropriate additional reconnaissance and the order "not knowing the ford, not pop into the water "(crossing into a ford is an exception), and an expensive combat unit is not in personal use. In most cases, in heavy reconnaissance (armored cavalry, non-floating MBT and BRM / BRDM) units, tank bridges are used for operational crossing over small water obstacles (up to 25-26 m).

How did you manage to stick to the route? And what route can be in the search? Nachraz cut the search area and terms, and then think for yourself, draw the routes, and the enemy will correct them in the process. You’ll come off and climb into the river, and now you’re ready to poop, but with your head, and you’ll be glad.
  31. kplayer kplayer +2 24 June 2014 14: 56 Yes, it’s clear that the self-taught scout is not particularly interested in the search area, as well as the route of extension and retreat, how to go for mushrooms. And why did we immediately move on to the gap? It seems to you that everything is literally perceived in a child, bridge pavers go in raids with tanks and BRM (MBT and BRM are mixed groups, not alone) and not only apparently bridge pavers, but also with BREM and IMR, or similar parts do without them? Ever heard of engineering support and second-tier tactical unit building?Quote: kplayerCombat surveillance and combat reconnaissance (power reconnaissance) is far from always carried out by rifle and anti-rifle units when conducting maneuverable databases (I think the reasons are clear).Generally speaking, this is about power reconnaissance, and not about the hidden "Plastun" small reconnaissance groups (armored vehicles tend to emit a characteristic noise).

I envy white envy. But you did not answer my question about personal experience in events of this kind. Therefore, I will tell you a little. Let's say they are going to lead the column and it is necessary to "run" along the "thread". Nachraz (who does not dry out for two weeks) draws a "wiring" on the tablet. Draws clumsily and confused (which is not surprising given his condition). In this action, there are: the chief of staff, start, zapotech, fogged up, etc. (everything is no better than a cut). After a long debate, you are given: 2-7 reconnaissance soldiers (just healthy, good-natured guys), a signalman (a graduate of a vocational school with p159), an artillery officer of a division (a junior lieutenant who, out of fear, confuses frequencies and forgets callsigns that the signalman does not even know). And now with a strong, well-knit team, you dive into an armored personnel carrier (well, if 80ka). And you are trying, and in 9 cases out of 10 and you are performing the combat mission assigned to you.And you are armored cavalry, BREM, a spreader. It’s easier to be. Aufiderzein.PS no offense.
