A weekend of heads-down tinkering, and I now have an AI-powered hiring intelligence system that pulls interview scorecard data from Greenhouse, synthesizes feedback across an entire panel, and answers strategic questions about candidates with cited evidence in seconds. The Use Case: I asked it for interviewer insight into a candidate’s strategic vs. execution depth. It returned a sourced comparative analysis across 12 scorecards, identified where interviewers disagreed, and cited specific evidence for every claim. That analysis would have taken me at least an hour to compile manually and/or meetings. No meetings required. The Stack: Claude Desktop + a custom MCP server I built in Python, running in Docker, connected to the Greenhouse Harvest API. PII filtering is baked into the infrastructure layer so sensitive data never reaches the LLM. My Insight: The "build vs. buy" equation HAS fundamentally changed. This isn't just a chatbot. It’s a layer on top of an existing operational workflow that turns "Institutional Memory", which will evaporates after a debrief, into a persistent queryable asset. I didn't change how we interview or how we use Greenhouse. I built AI layer that lets me leverage our existing data so I can ask open ended questions to help me make better decisions. And is just the first step of what we can do with this. For a small org, this is a force multiplier. We don't have a people analytics team. Now we do. If you are a leader thinking AI transformation/enablement requires a massive engineering investment: it doesn't. However, it does require architecture and systems-level thinking, some AI technical skills, and enough insight to know where intelligence or agents should be inserted. We will all need this new "Managerial/Leadership OS" in an AI enabled workforce.
