With only a handful of games left in the regular season, two of the best teams in the Western Conference look to take another step towards locking up the top spot in their respective divisions, as the Calgary Flames get set to host the Colorado Avalanche.

The Avalanche currently hold the best record in the entire National Hockey League, and are on pace to be the first team to the 100-point mark this season, and are seemingly on their way to a second-consecutive President’s Trophy. In the Central Division, they are 14 points clear of the Minnesota Wild with a 46-14-6 record. Coming down to the end of the month, the Avs have gone 7-4-2 so far in March.

Calgary has surged to the top of the Pacific Division after a so-so start to their 2021-22 campaign. While they do not have as commanding of a lead as the Avs, they are seven points head of the Los Angeles Kings coming into Tuesday night. The Flames’ 88 points are 10 back of the Avalanche, but are looking to end the month of March strong, as they are 9-4-1 so far this month.

This will be the third and final meeting between the Western Conference foes, with their first two meetings both coming in March. After the Flames knocked off the Avs in overtime in Denver back on March 5, Colorado returned the favor with a 3-0 win at Ball Arena on the 13th.
