Concordia Hanoi's 2024 Christmas Fair and Fun Run Concordia International School Hanoi transformed into a vibrant hub of activity and holiday cheer with the successful hosting of the Concordia 2024 Fun Run and Christmas Fair. This event drew an impressive crowd of over 500 attendees, also including over 260 enthusiastic runners and supporters.

We are proud to announce that one of our talented students has achieved 1st place in the Middle School Category for the GASCA-IAP Louvre International Art Competition! As a recognition of her outstanding artwork, Yu Bin (G8) will have the honor of having her piece displayed at the Louvre on February 7th along with other art students' work from around the world. Reflecting on her creative process, she shared: “I wanted to draw something black and white. I’m a huge fan of Renaissance art and Greek mythology, so I looked up some art pieces that interested me and fused them all together to create an art piece that mixes pencil and paint.” Her dedication to her craft is further supported by her participation in GreenSum Academy, where her teacher encouraged her involvement, emphasizing that it would provide invaluable experience and benefit her future. Additionally, we would like to congratulate Hailey (G9), who received an Honorable Mention in the High School Category. Congratulations on these remarkable accomplishments! 🌟

🌟 Last week was an exciting journey into the world of coding! 🌟 From our youngest learners in G3 and Preschool exploring robotics with Bee Bot and unplugged activities, to G5 and G1 creating interactive posters using Scratch and Makey Makey, our students showcased their creativity and problem-solving skills. A special highlight was when our G5 students met with Dr. Santos for an insightful session on high school coding classes. We also embraced sustainability by incorporating recyclable materials into our projects, proving that innovation can be both fun and eco-friendly! ♻️✨

Concordia Hanoi Hosts Annual ASAC Volleyball Tournament Concordia International School Hanoi proudly hosted this year's annual ASAC (Asean Sports and Activities Conference) tournament. Both our girls' and boys' teams secured 5th place in this competition, which featured ten teams from Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand.

Concordia sent ten Middle School students and ten High School students to compete against nine other Hanoi area schools at the Math Olympiad this past Saturday, and emerged as the overall school winner, taking home the Gold! One of Concordia’s Middle School teams also took the individual silver medal. “I got to collaborate with new people, so I learned teamwork skills. It was a great opportunity, and I’m proud we did so well,” said Alice (G9). The competition includes an engineering round, a math round and a scavenger round. “The competition was pretty stressful but exciting at the same time—especially the first round. For context, we had to make a contraption that held the maximum amount of water in a cup when dropped from an altitude of around 5 meters. We were only given the materials and no guidelines as to how we would approach it. This round really pushed our team to be creative and we decided to make a parachute out of a plastic bag,” said Kota (G11). Go Thunder! Thanks again to Olympia School for hosting this event.

"During the month of November, the Reception and Preschool students ran a Holiday Sock Drive service project. They aimed to spread joy and kindness during Christmas by engaging in a sock drive fundraiser and creating heartfelt holiday cards for elderly residents at the Thien Duc Nursing Home in Tay Ho. Through these activities, the reception students learned the importance of caring for others, developed empathy by considering the needs of older adults, and experienced the joy of giving back to the community. By working together, they began to understand how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life, especially during the holiday season. Our aim to purchase warm socks for the residents was also tied to our science unit, where we learned all about weather and how temperature changes affect what we do and what we wear. Thanks to the generosity of the Reception and Preschool families, we collected enough donations to provide every resident at the Thien Duc Nursing Home with a pair of socks, gloves, and a warm hat. We greatly thank them for their collaboration in helping us teach our students about the spirit of giving, especially during this time of year." - The Reception and Preschool Teams
