Cấu trúc too to trong tiếng Anh và cách dùng

Cấu trúc too to có hai vị trí đứng phụ thuộc vào loại từ trong tiếng Anh đứng sau nó.

Cấu trúc too to khi đi cùng với tính từ

S + BE + TOO + ADJ +(FOR SB) + TO + v

Ví dụ:

• She is too fat to wear that dress.(Cô ấy quá béo để mặc chiếc váy đó.)
• He’s too short to be a model.(Anh ấy quá thấp để trở thành người mẫu.)

Cấu trúc too to khi đi cùng với trạng từ

S + V + TOO + ADV + (FOR SB) + TO + V

Ví dụ:

• He walks too fast for me to keep up.(Anh ấy đi nhanh đến nỗi mà tôi không thể theo kịp.)
• The water was too strong for me to swim.(Nước chảy mạnh đến nỗi tôi không thể bơi được.)

Một số lưu ý khi sử dụng cấu trúc Too…to

Nếu trước tính từ, trạng từ có các trạng từ như too, so, very, quite, extremely… thì khi chuyển sang cấu trúc Too … to phải bỏ những trạng từ đó đi.

Ví dụ:

The coffee was very hot. I couldn’t drink it.

⟹ The coffee was too hot for me to drink.

Nếu chủ ngữ 2 câu giống nhau thì lược bỏ phần for Sb.

Ví dụ:

He is so weak. He can’t run.

⟹ He is too weak to run.

Nếu chủ ngữ câu đầu giống với tân ngữ câu sau thì phải bỏ tân ngữ câu sau khi chuyển sang cấu trúc Too…to

Ví dụ:

The tea was too hot. I couldn’t drink it.

⟹ The tea was too hot for me to drink. ĐÚNG

The tea was too hot for me to drink it. SAI

Nguyên tắc cần lưu ý khi nối câu dùng too…to.

Cấu trúc và cách sử dụng too to rất dễ để học và ghi nhớ. Nhưng có một vài lưu ý khi sử dụng too to mà bạn cần ghi nhớ nều không muốn mắc lỗi khi sử dụng nó.

Nguyên tắc 1: 

Nếu trước tính từ, trạng từ có các trạng từ như so, too, quite, very, extremely… thì khi chuyển sang cấu trúc Too to, bạn phải bỏ những trạng từ đó đi.

Nguyên tắc 2: 

Nếu chủ từ trong hai câu đều giống nhau thì ta bỏ phần for sb.

Nguyên tắc 3:  

Nếu chủ từ câu đầu giống với túc từ trong câu sau thì bạn phải bỏ túc từ câu sau.

Ví dụ:

• My sister is so weak. she can’t run.

Dịch nghĩa: Chị gái của tôi quá yếu. Cô ấy không thể chạy nổi. 

• My sister is too weak to run.

Dịch nghĩa: Chị gái của tôi quá yếu để có thể chạy được. 

• The coffee was very hot. They couldn’t drink it.

Dịch nghĩa: Cà phê rất là nóng. Họ không thể uống được. 

• The coffee was too hot for them to drink.

Dịch nghĩa: Cà phê quá nóng để họ có thể uống.

Lưu ý:

Chúng ta có thể Enough để thay thế cho too to với ý nghĩa tương đương. Hai cấu trúc này thường được dùng để viết lại câu, nối 2 câu lại với nhau, hay biến đổi những thành phần cần thiết để chuyển câu dùng với Too thành câu dùng với từ.

Ví dụ:

• The piano is very heavy. Nobody can lift it.
• The piano is too heavy (for us) to lift.
• The piano is not light enough to lift.

Cấu trúc enough to

Cấu trúc enough to: Đủ…để làm gì…

Cấu trúc enough to đối với tính từ

S + tobe + adj + enough + (for someone) + to V

Ví dụ: 

• This table is big enough for 10 people to sit.(Cái bàn này đủ cho 10 người ngồi.)
• The water is warm enough for you to have a bath pass.(Nước đủ nóng để bạn có thể tắm.)

Cấu trúc enough to đối với trạng từ

S + V + adv + enough + (for someone) + to V

Ví dụ:

• He spoke loud enough for me to hear it.(Anh ấy nói đủ to để tôi có thể nghe tiếng.)
• He punched hard enough to break the glass.(Anh ta đẩm đủ mạnh để làm vỡ kính.)

Cấu trúc enough to đối với danh từ trong tiếng Anh

S + V/tobe + enough + noun + (for someone) + to V

Ví dụ:

• We have enough food for the next week.(Chúng ta có đủ đồ ăn cho một tuần tới.)
• This car has enough seats for all of us.(Chiếc xe này có đủ chỗ cho tất cả chúng ta.)

• Công thức enough trong câu khẳng định

Trong câu khẳng định Enough được sử dụng sau tính từ và trạng từ kết hợp với động từ nguyên thể có “to” 

Cấu trúc: S + tobe + Adj + enough + O + to V (nguyên thể)

S + V + enough + O + to V (nguyên thể)

Ví dụ: The weather is sunny enough for shopping ( thời tiết thì nắng đủ cho chúng tôi ra ngoài mua sắm)

Nam is strong enough to carry this closet( Nam đủ khỏe để vác tủ đồ)

Lan is old enough to take responsibility for your employment( Lan đủ tuổi để chịu trách nhiệm về việc làm của mình)

•  Công thức enough trong câu phủ định

Cấu trúc: S + tobe not + adj + enough + O + to V (nguyên thể)

S + do not/ does not/ did not + V + adv + enough + O + to V nguyên thể

Ví dụ:     She is not healthy enough to play this game ( cô ấy không đủ sức khỏe để chơi trò chơi này)

He is not big enough to do it ( cậu ấy chưa đủ lớn để làm chuyện đó)

Mai is not enough money to buy a house ( mai chưa đủ tiền để mua một ngôi nhà)

He is not old enough to drive a motorbike ( Anh ấy chưa đủ tuổi để lái xe máy)

Enough là gì?

Enough trong tiếng Anh có nghĩa là “đủ để có thể làm gì”. Được dùng để chỉ mức độ, phạm vi về số lượng, tính chất của 1 sự vật, sự việc đạt đến mức độ để xảy ra sự vật, sự việc khác. Tuy nhiên đôi khi “enough” cũng được sử dụng với nhiều mục đích khác nhau. Vì vậy,  trong mỗi hoàn cảnh khác nhau thì từ “đủ” cũng mang các nghĩa khác.

Ví dụ: I am not intellegent enough to understand what you want to.

Enough đóng vai trò là trạng từ (Adverb)

Ví dụ:

• He is qualified enough for the position.  Anh ta đủ trình độ chuyên môn cho vị trí này.
• She sang well enough. Cô ta hát khá tốt.

Từ đồng nghĩa và trái nghĩa với enough

Từ đồng nghĩa:

• Adequately (thỏa đáng),
• Satisfactorily (một cách hài lòng),
• Sufficiently (đủ, thích đáng),
• Suitably (phù hợp, thích hợp).

Từ trái nghĩa với enough:

• Inadequately (không thỏa đáng);
• Insufficiently (không đủ. thiếu);
• Unsatisfactorily (không đầy đủ, không vừa ý).

Một số nguyên tắc cần nhớ khi dùng enough

Lưu ý 1:

Nếu trong câu có trạng từ too, so, quite, very…. Hay các danh từ many, much, a lot of, lots of thì phải bỏ các từ này đi.Ví dụ:He can buy a house

 • -> He has enough a lot of money to buy a car (sai) • ->He has enough money to buy a car (đúng)

Lưu ý 2:

Nếu 2 câu cùng chủ ngữ thì bỏ phần “for sb”VD: John is strong. He can lift the box => John is strong enough to lift the boxTuy nhiên nếu chủ ngữ của câu sau có ý chung chung thì cũng có thể bỏ điCD: The weather is not hot. We can’t live on it => the weather is not hot enough to live on.

Lưu ý 3:

Nếu Chủ ngữ câu đầu và bổ ngữ câu sau là 1 thì phải bổ ngữ câu sau.VD: The water is quite warm. I can drink it => The water is warm enough for me to drink.Trên đây là tất cả cách dùng enough. Cấu trúc so that và such that

Cấu trúc so that: Quá…đến nỗi….

Cấu trúc so that đối với tính từ: 

S + be+ so + adj + that + S + V

Ví dụ:

• She is so beautiful that everyone pays attention.(Cô ấy đẹp đến nỗi mà ai cũng phải chú ý.
• The shirt is so tight that I can’t wear it.(Chiếc áo chật đến nỗi tôi không mặc được.)

Cấu trúc so that đối với trạng từ:

S + V + so + adv + that + S + V

Ví dụ:

• They talked so loud that I couldn’t sleep.(Họ nó to đến mức tôi không thể ngủ được.)
• The dog grew so fast that I couldn’t recognize it.(Con chó lớn nhanh đến nỗi tôi không thể nhận ra.)

Cấu trúc so that đối với danh từ đếm được:

S + V+ so many/ few + danh từ/cụm danh từ đếm được + that + S + V

Ví dụ: 

• He has so much money that he doesn’t know what to spend.(Anh ta có quá nhiều tiền đến nỗi mà anh ta không biết tiêu gì.)
• I ate so much bread that I didn’t want to see us anymore(Tôi đã ăn quá nhiều bánh mì đến nỗi mà tôi không muốn nhìn thấy chúng nữa.)

Cấu trúc so that đối với danh từ không đếm được:

 S + V + so much/ little + uncountable noun + that + S + V

Ví dụ:

• He added so much salt that the soup was salty.(Anh ta cho nhiều muối đến mức là bát canh mặn chát.)
• She drank so much alcohol that she was soft drunk.(Cô ấy uống nhiều rượu đến mức cô ấy say mềm.)

Cấu trúc such that

Cấu trúc such that có nghĩa tương tự như cấu trúc so that. Tuy nhiên thì such sẽ đi với danh từ hoặc một cụm danh từ.

S + V + such + (a/an) + adj + noun + that + S + V

Ví dụ:

• They are such beautiful dresses that I want to buy them now.(Những chiếc váy đẹp đến nỗi mà tôi muốn mua cúng ngay bây giờ.)
• It was such a bad day that we were on a picnic.(Ngày hôm nay thật tệ để có thể đi picnic.)
