COPPER STRIP: CHARACTERISTICS AND SPECIFICATIONS

SUPPLY AND PACKAGING FOR THE TRANSPORT OF COPPER STRIPS

VINCO specializes in the manufacture of strapping with different qualities, finishes, coatings and cutting ranges from 0.05 mm to 5.0 mm thick and from 3.0 mm to 1,250 mm wide. We have ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications that apply to the commercialization and slitting, rolling, edging and flattening-cross cutting for steel, stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metals such as copper.

Copper strip is available in different alloys, all of which have excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. These copper strips are used in the stamping sector, the automotive sector and for electrocomponent parts, among others.

In terms of technical properties, the density of copper strapping is 8.9 kg/dm³ and VINCO offers several supply and packaging options such as coil or spooled supply:

• In Rolls with strapping: this type of packaging cordons off the strapping to provide greater stability when transporting the goods. Within this modality, the product can be supplied strapped by arrangement -radial or perimeter-, by material -plastic or metallic-, by coil arrangement (clockwise or counterclockwise), with separation between coils and with cardboard core.

• The supply of spooled strapping takes advantage of the material giving uniformity to the strap with wooden, metallic, plastic or cardboard core reels.

• The Helycoil format strap incorporates cardboard separators that group the product in the form of a roll or cookie.

In addition, the packaging and palletizing in which we can supply strapping comes in different types of pallets: square, round, custom-made or europallet.

All these supply options and types of packaging include protective elements to ensure that the product arrives in perfect condition: box, lid, intermediate cardboard or wooden blocks, corner protectors, dustproof plastic bag, paper and VCI damp-proof plastic, phytosanitary and maritime packaging and damp-proof bags.

COATINGS AND TOLERANCES

Bare copper strip (uncoated), electrolytic tin plating (s/EN 14436), hot-dip tin plating (s/EN 13148) can be supplied.

In addition to the coatings defined in International Standards, VINCO can supply strip with the following non-standard coatings: brass plating, copper plating, nickel plating, gold plating, electroplating, silver plating, pre-painted/lacquering, tin plating, selective plating.

Thickness tolerances for copper strips are given in EN 13599 and EN 1652 and are applicable for general and electrical uses with thicknesses from 0.05 mm up to and including 25 mm and widths from 10 mm up to and including 1250 mm. However, in the case of coated material, thickness tolerances are governed by EN 14436 and EN 13148, which involve the thickness of the strip before tinning and the thickness of the tinned strip.
