Looking for a lawnmover so cordless seems to be the way to go.

{snip}

Which to pick if money not an issue.

If money not an issue, how big is your lawn?

For $2500, the reviews don't stack up against the husgvarna. Lawn will be about 400sqm.

Do whatever you want to do man.

In 2016 I got a Victa 16" VLM4018, which included a 40v 4Ah battery.

All good until this year, and now battery isn't providing adequate run time (degradation??). Anyway, in the market for another battery, and struggling to find one. This on Aliexpress looks similar... worth the gamble or am I probably wasting money?

Retailer should have spares for a reasonable period of time, if not go back to them and make them solve the problem. Got a full refund on a 3 year old cheapie drill at bunnings because they couldnt get any spares for it.

I too would really love to know peoples opinion between the AEG and the Victa, I have an older 36V Ryobi and while its amazing in the summer the old model and batteries are starting to really struggle in the winter with constant clogging.

Seeing the Victa for $730 ... as almost sealed the deal for me, Thanks to that awesome price match post!

Would also like to know if anyone has seen this massport? noticed i can get it through flybuys, but unsure if its worth it...https://www.flybuys.co.nz/rewards/masport-400st-58v-2-in-1-mower?outlet_id=0

A teeny bit off topic, but I noticed someone in our street has a robot lawn mower. I did not even know these were a thing.

Expensive... thinking about one for my new house.. lawn is small and no dog poo on it. laughing

What one? The Husqvarna ones?

They're over the top... $2-5k!

Probably awesome tho. Have you done any reviews.

All are pretty expensive, and you get what you pay for.

Friend of mine has one of the Husqvarna robot mowers, basically a Roomba for the lawn. They have quite a big lawn and were looking at a ride-on, but as the back has quite a slope a ride-on would have a decent chance of rolling. So, since they were looking at spending ride-on money, the robot wasn't that expensive.

It doesn't mow fast, but it mows all the time, quietly, without fuss. It has GPS fencing, so it doesn't mow the whole street, and if its stolen, it won't work.

As far as they are concerned, not having to spend a couple of hours a week walking around behind a mower was a great investment.

@dy3r It sounds like the Victa has battery problems and it's difficult to find a new battery for it.

I'm also looking at purchasing an electric lawn mower but I'm finding it hard to decide which one would offer the best value for the long term.

Shop now at Mighty Ape (affiliate link).

Thanks @richms for advice about going back to retailer. Being a slacker in terms of going to shops, I mowed the lawn several times over a week to get it really short. With the much shorter grass, I'm now finding the 2016 Victa battery lasts the advertised ~20 minutes. With longer grass and a bit of damp it was barely doing 10 minutes.

Suspect I'll look back in 10y and laugh at how woosy batteries were.

Did the older victa use the briggs and Stratton battery?

Hey dy3r, was browsing the web and found another site for $699 https://sesdirect.co.nz/collections/new-equipment/products/victa-82v-21-inch-wide-cut-mower-kit

You could use that to price match and get it even cheaper. With the 15% price match it'd be about $595, a steal!

Cheers,

This worked was $594, and much better/more powerful than the Ryobi one I had.

Cheers
