This instrument is also sometimes known as a mbira, likembe, sanza, thumb piano, finger piano, hand piano or pocket piano. This lovely mahogany kalimba from UNOKKI features 17 keys and notes: 1(D), 2(B), 3(G), 4(E), 5(C5), 6(A), 7(F), 8(D), 9(C4), 10(E), 1(G), 12(B), 13(D), 14(F), 15(A), 16(C6), and 17(E). The tone is the same as that of a piano: International C tune.

The kalimba is an ideal personal instrument that’s portable enough to take anywhere. It’s smaller than a 13-inch computer and a little bigger than a cell phone – great for performance, recording, family time, outdoor use, parties or school music classes.

To make this instrument even easier to play, simply block off the upper 7 notes – leaving the 10 centered notes (from E to D) – and use the instructional book for the 10-key kalimba.

How to Tune? You can use a portable tuner, tuned piano, cellphone or tuning hammer. There are many free apps available for both Android and iOS devices. Just search for “Tuner.” Tuning steps:   Pluck the middle tine of the kalimba. Use the tuning hammer to tune the tine, until the note in the tuner matches the default note and the pointer points to the center position.	Learn & Play The kalimba is extremely easy to learn and to play. You simply press the keys or tines with your thumbs. Every UNOKKI kalimba is tuned and tested before it’s shipped. The tone is the same as a piano: International C tune. The solid wood body of UNOKKI’s 17-key kalimba creates a deeply resonant quality of sound.	Metal Keys Plucking the steel keys produces delightfully clear, bright tones. The keys are curved downward, to protect your thumbs while you play. Some users prefer additional thumb protection while playing the kalimba – we include thumb covers in every package, for that purpose.

UNOKKI kalimbas are constructed of solid mahogany wood from the okoume tree. This type of wood varies in color from medium chocolate brown to reddish brown and is often glossy in appearance.
