'Deep-fried Rat' From KFC A Hoax, Company Wants Apology - National

The infamous ‘deep fried rat’ that made the rounds on social media last week was a hoax.

KFC told Global News on Monday that lab testing confirmed the cutlet was, in fact, chicken and not a rodent, and wants an apology.

“The product has now been tested by a third-party independent lab, which confirmed it is definitely a piece of chicken, as we knew all along,” company spokesperson Rodrigo Coronel said in an email.

“The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand.”

California man Devorise Dixon made the claim on Facebook on June 11 that he was served a piece of vermin in his 3-piece chicken tender order.

It was from a KFC outlet in Compton, California, he said.

Then he claimed that a KFC manager admitted the following day that it was a rat:

Dixon did not respond to a request for comment.
