The MR308-28 is out for over a year already. Some people on this forum, including myself, have it. The G28-Z is the same gun, but with a steel upper for 1500e extra and significant weight increase. #5 · Mar 10, 2017 The really crazy are those who modded MR762 with full on Engraving and had the CERAKOTED, BC nobody possesses the correct Anodizing mix/processes/temps to get the correct color scheme, paid more then what the Real Thing will cost with the scope setup, etc... Come on prices, keep coming down! As in I hope any dumping of inventory or better yet a release of a civilian HK433 (dreaming I know) will continue to drive down the price of the MR series. So, is the G28Z the civilian version of the German Army steel uppered rifle, or is it a civilian version of the G28E, the lighter version the US Army selected? the article seemed to reference both the Z and E, which leads to my confusion. #11 · Mar 12, 2017 So here is the Situation in Germany: There are MR308, same rifle as MR762. Then there is the MR308A3, that is available in various versions, fully ambi rifle, has chrome lined barrels, also available in RAL8000. Barrel Lenghts range from 13 to 20 inches. There is also a "special" Version of this rifle out, MR308A3-28, which is effectively a G28 with aluminium upper and no AGB. So the closest to the US G28E right now. Then there are actual genuine G28 Germany Army production line Steel upper etc. that were sold by some LE dealers to civilians for ~6.000e per rifle/13k with Optics. Now, there is the announced G28Z, this is identical to the MR308-28 but it has an actual Steel-Upper. And the package optional will also offer accessories available already, such as the HK OEM Schmidt Bender/Aimpoint optics package, that will most likely retail around 5k EUR for the rifle and 10k for the whole package. No. 2500 Euros to have exactly same (stupid) configuration that Bundeswehr demanded and received. There is no point in buying G28Z if you do not want to have "real deal" G28. If you just want accurate 7,62x51 semi auto from HK get MR308 or MR308-28. Show more replies 1 Reply #20 · Sep 20, 2023 SIX YEARS later, still no G28z for the U.S. market. That said, I was visiting my gun dealer friend when the U.S. rep for HK happend to stop by to see him. He was tight lipped but said that later this year ( I believe he said around the end of October or November ) there would be some changes and new things. One of them was that one of the sub compact pistols was going to be dropped from their line-up. I THINK he said it was the P-30 sub compact. The one that caught my attention, however, was that there would be something new in the MR306/556 line. When my friend queried him about whether they might be different handguards or furniture, the rep just smiled but said no more. I'm typing this on 9/20/2023 so, if everything is on schedule as he said, we shouldn't have much longer to wait to see what's what.
