bobsguns Title says it all. I own a VP9L with the 20rd mags. Am I missing anything by not owning the Match? Is the trigger any better? (Can't imagine it getting much better, IMO.) Better accuracy? (VP9L is pretty accurate as is.) I would compare the two but H&K doesn't list the VP9L on their product list. #1 · Feb 28, 2022 Title says it all. I own a VP9L with the 20rd mags. Mine isn't. I obviously should've known they were the same size & so forth. Brain fart on my part. Getting old is no fun. :ROFLMAO: 0 Reply #3 · Feb 28, 2022 It’s about a 0.5” longer slide and barrel. I don’t think you’re gaining much, at least not enough to warrant a replacement. Trigger is slightly different as well, but again, not enough to replace the gun over. #11 · Mar 1, 2022 Yeah, I think I'm gonna agree with that accessment. I have no plans to add or replace with the Match, just curious about what the differences were? I've got a holster for the VP9L & have heard the Match is hard to find a holster for. I have 5-6 20rd mags for this, so I can easily see it being more than capable for serious social work. I also have the SD with the mag well & 18rd mags. Capacity IS one's friend. ;) 0 Reply #4 · Feb 28, 2022 I believe with the slightly longer barrel, which I also believe has been fitted to the slide, the slide has some additional small ports on the front and a tuned trigger. Someone on here did an accuracy between vp9 versions. it was pretty well done and written up. #5 · Feb 28, 2022 I have the Match, Tactical and Standard, will pick up the L one day just to have them all. Performance wise, not enough to replace. Since I have to silencer now and if only could have one, Tactical would be it. #6 · Feb 28, 2022 According to HK CS, the Match has some coated trigger parts. I’ve not confirmed it by taking one apart, however. Perhaps @HK CS1 can confirm? #9 · Feb 28, 2022 Sfp9 matches in Germany have trigger parts coated like trigger bar the firing pin or striker is coated for both USA and German matches 0 Reply #7 · Feb 28, 2022 The match also comes with an addition rod/spring. #12 · Mar 1, 2022 Is the spring captured? I get having two springs for loads, but why two rods if they're not captured? Show more replies 0 Reply #8 · Feb 28, 2022 Depends on what it’s for. Match is not on the USPSA production list, so that is one consideration. A European spec match is a totally different thing, with a true match trigger. #14 · Mar 1, 2022 Yeah, USPSA matches were a good option. I'm a Life USPSA Member but need to get back into it. I'm just REALLY anal about my good guns. I want them to be as accurate as possible, have gobs of capacity & a darn good trigger. Oh, yeah, & cost under $600 too. :ROFLMAO: I was really wondering about internal differences, a noticeably better trigger, etc. I've never finger banged a Match. 0 Reply #16 · Mar 1, 2022 Just a head up OP, I would take with a grain of salt any comment that begins with "I believe..." or "I read..." without a citation or a link to provide where they got this "info" they are posting. I've read a bunch of stuff already that is simply NOT TRUE. IE, fitted slides and different triggers. All can easily be proven not to be true by looking looking at their manual (US), they actually didn't include the "match" trigger on the US model and took off the VP9 Jet funnel. All a "match" will give you over a VP9L is about 25-30fps on your rounds and nothing else unless you are running irons. Plus the "match" is un-balanced without the jet funnel and that extra-extra long slide/barrel. The VP9L was leaning in that direction thought I think it's fairly balanced in the hand. #18 · Mar 2, 2022

Yeah, this ain't my first rodeo. ;) I've sold guns for 30+ years & have owned at least one H&K for about 25 years now, maybe a couple more? Not that I'm in any way expert on H&K's, which is why I was asking my questions. But it seems the short answer is there won't be/aren't much, if any at all, differences between the VP9L & Match models, at least as far as my purposes. But thanks for the advice, regardless. 0 Reply #17 · Mar 1, 2022 I find it to be very nicely balanced, not sure the funnel adds that much weight that it’s relevant, especially considering the difference in weight between a fully loaded mag and an emptied one. In the COF the weight of the back end changes dramatically from first to last round, especially if you are using the 20 round magazines, so I think the issue with balance is a non-starter. #19 · Mar 2, 2022 (Edited) There is not much difference. MojoPin kind of covered it (but I don’t find the balance to be off and doubt the funnel did much to help even if it was. Interesting to note that the Match is 1.5 to 3oz lighter (depending on source) than the VP9LOR. In fact the Matchs published weight is even slightly less than the standard VP9. Either way Matches are lighter and the difference is in the slide not the frame. The Matches slide is considerably lightened. So if his statement that the VP9LOR was headed in the wrong direction of throwing the VP9s balance off, HK seems to be headed in the opposite direction with the match. His mileage varies from mine on the point of balance but that’s ok. That said the grain of salt advice is sound. Also, there isn’t much difference in price either when you factor what it comes with. Both are really good. #20 · Mar 4, 2022 I was debating on which one to get..problem solved definitely going with the match if I decide to go with a 9mm, if I go with 45acp I'll go with usp expert(if I can find one)or tactical! #21 · Mar 4, 2022 You will enjoy it I think. Can’t go wrong with either IMO. This post has been deleted #22 · Mar 4, 2022
