About

Professor Dinh Nho Hao obtained his MSc degree in Mathematics from Baku State University in 1983, his PhD in Mathematics from the Free University of Berlin in 1991, and his Habilitation in Mathematics from University of Siegen in 1996. He is an expert in partial differential equations, optimal control and numerical analysis. His main contributions are known in inverse and ill-posed problems for partial differential equations through many publications in Inverse Problems, Numerische Mathematik, and the SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis. He serves as an editor of Acta Mathematica Vietnamica, Applicable Analysis, Applied Numerical Mathematics, Inverse Problems in Science and Engineering, Journal of Inverse and Ill-Posed Problems, Vietnam Journal of Mathematics, Vietnam Journal of Mathematical Applications.  He is the Principal Investigator of many NAFOSTED research projects and, currently, a VINIF key project on water and air pollution in Vietnam. 

In 1984, Dinh Nho Hao joined the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), as a researcher and then a full professor. Apart from his permanent position at the Institute of Mathematics, he has held many European-based research positions: Research Fellow supported by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Free University of Berlin (West) (1988-1992); Senior Researcher supported by German Research Foundation (DFG), University of Siegen, Germany (1993-1996); Gastprofessor, University of Siegen, Germany (05-07/1996);  Professeur invité, INSA-Rouen, Rouen, France (10-11/1996 ; 06-07/1999, 3-6/2001); CNR Research Fellow, Politecnico di Milano, Italy (11/1997-10/1998); Visiting Fellow supported by the Royal Society, The University of Leeds, UK (09-10/1999); Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, University of Frankfurt am Main (1999-2001); Senior Researcher and then Visiting Professor, Free University of Brussels (VUB), Belgium (2001-2004); Marie Curie  incoming international fellow, University of Leeds, UK (2011-2013).
