| firozjdang flyHigh Thread OP | Discussion Beitian vs Matek - which should I buy? I want to buy GPS for INav for mostly fixed wings which GPS is the best? I know I don't need a compass for Inav, I want a good GPS with a decent big antenna (bigger than nano or mini) I see matek is more expensive than Beitian, does it make its quality to hold the GPS very well? which is the best GPS I can buy which is light weight and also good connection? Matek or Beitian ? |

| firozjdang flyHigh Thread OP | Thanks but is there any technical data for the comparison? I mean I don't mind waiting for GPS lock fix for the next 2 more mins if that saves me $20...but are there issues with Beitian, in case I decide to go with it which one has a bigger antenna without the compass? |

I think maybe RC Model Reviews and Pawel, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone can post links. The upshot of them all was the Matek units were more accurate, I think. |

The Matek will (in all likelihood) lock faster, be immune to more noise, be more accurate, hold position better, etc. But there are boatloads of people (myself included) using the Beitian units for our needs. I've recently gotten the Matek 5883 because I need a compass (for INAV on a quad) and I don't like how big the BN-880s are (though I also have an 880Q which is a single-board version, it's still big) and they are known to be a little less susceptible to interference from nearby electronics. I also tend to favor the Matek if I have a particular aircraft that I want some extra peace of mind, knowing that I'm going to be pushing things closer to the limits. The 180s and 220s are good little units. I really like the BN-250 for the bigger and better antenna it includes, but my experiences with it so far are limited so I can't say how much better it actually is. As mentioned, recent videos on GPS performance: iforce2d: | GPS module showdown do-over with full precision and two more modules (Neo-6M and BN880Q) (29 min 59 sec) | pawel: | GPS module test: BN-180, BN-220, BN-880, Matek SAM-M8Q and M8Q-5883 against each other (11 min 23 sec) | matthew ogborne (older): | GPS Units Compared - BN-220 vs BN-880 vs BN-880Q for iNav, Ardupilot or Betaflight (14 min 57 sec) | |

flyandride Staring at it won't fix it. | The best I've found is the black round puck NEO M8N which can be bought on ebay, Amazon etc for around $22. It has a compass but you don't have to use it. The board can be taken out of the case and buried in a wing. Images View all Images in thread -
