Hump's 88 Cabby H Does anyone have a diagram of the distributor cap and wires. I need to know what spark plugs go where on the distributor. Greatly appreciated. #1 · Sep 5, 2013 Does anyone have a diagram of the distributor cap and wires. I need to know what spark plugs go where on the distributor. Greatly appreciated. There is a thin notch on the rim, like it was made with a chisel. Where ever that notch is, is where the cable to #1 cylinder goes. The next hole to the right of that, is #3, the #4, then #2. "Well, my timing's off, I have a vacuum leak the size of my head, there's oil everywhere and everyone tells me to 'lower it', but hey! Party time in here!" #8 · Sep 7, 2013 I kind of figured that was your point, but just in case anyone happened to wonder if there was a way to ID the wires, I thought I'd post the tags. It'd be expensive, but you could buy one set each of red, blue, yellow, and gray wires... make up a colorful set for your car, then sell the other 3. :D Show more replies 0 Reply #10 · Sep 8, 2013 (Edited) I don't know why folks have a hard time with plug wires. From the cap to the farthest plug it is the longest wire, then next longest, longer short one, and the shortest...... for 8 then there are 2 long wires and one is still a tad longer than another. 6 cylinder is is 2 sets of 3, and for 4 only 4 :) Now for the cap, you have to find out where the number one is, and that is usually under the hash. The hardest problem is knowing the firing order of said car, and the rotational direction of the dizzy. Hope that global warming, the rotation of the sun, and solar flares or massive EMP from a thermo Nuclear deivce isn't interfering. So knowing where to find the information ie: CAR REPAIR MANUAL, Interweb, or forums, is the bestest thing. Try google search, as in VW MK1 Cabriolet Firing order... :) It is only difficult if you make it so. Briano1234's rule of thumb, one wire off at a time, and if you do take all 4 off, leave them connected to the cap. or Know Kammy's phone number.. :) :) :) :) :):laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: #11 · Sep 8, 2013

^That'd be rather pointless. Those who know me, know I don't usually answer my phone. Hell, I have a hard enough time just answering emails. ;)   :peace: :D Show more replies 0 Reply Insert Quotes Post Reply
