My father-in-law came back from Spain singing this song called “Chichiwa”, and my 5 year old son loves it, but none of us know the words. Can anyone help? I’ve been trying to find it on the internet and there are references to it on a couple of Dutch websites, but no lyrics.

Hope someone can tell us more about it!

UPDATE: Maxine wrote to me that this song is in Spanish. She heard it while on vacation in Majorca. She wrote…

It starts off:

Compania (Hands go around head) Brassand dah (Arms go outstretched)

I then do not know the rest of the words, but the arms are then in a position to become some sort of creature… where the verse is Chichiwa, chichiwa, chichiwa wa wa

I’ve written to the holiday company on the hope they can help!!

   Rik Gaynor recorded the Uk English version it’s on youtube and itunes it’s spelt chu chu uah though not chi chi wah etc!

   This song is originally made in Finnish by Fröbelin Palikat on 1993 and the song’s name is Sutsisatsi it was a best seller in Finland for kids music.

   Idk what all this German, French, Finland stuff is about but…it’s definitely Spanish. And it’s called CHUCHUA’ (pronounced Choo-choo-wa). And it’s a children’s nursery rhyme with a step by step dance routine that goes along with it, basically mimicking a sort of “soldier’s march”. But instead of the soldiers holding “guns” in their hands (bc that’s not kid appropriate) they just stick out their thumbs instead to make it silly and fun for the kids TODAY. BUT, the original version from a LONG time ago (before political correctness came along), kids made pistols with their fingers instead of thumbs, which represented the soldier’s guns.

   But yea…it’s Spanish (maybe very possibly Italian, too) but definitely not German or Finland or French. THE SONG IS FROM A LATIN-BASED LANGUAGE SPEAKING COUNTRY. Everyone else just made their own version and jumped on the bandwagon. Js
