If there is acommunication error faultCH05will appear within 5 mins of powering up the system.TestingTurn on the power and start the indoor unit in cooling, set the temperature to 18ºC,the serial communication signal will only be present for the first 3 mins of operation.Set your meter to DC Volts, Test between terminals2 and 3, of the outdoor unit andwiring terminals you should see 0-65 V dc, it willbe fluctuating. If the Voltage is not present disconnect the interunit wiring, test the Voltage on thewiring terminals again, If No Voltage is present the outdoor PCB must be faulty.Once the signal has been detected leaving the outdoor unit check what is beingreceived by the indoor unit, measure DC Voltage across the wiring terminal 2 and 3,it should be identical to what you saw at the outdoor unit, if not your wiring is at fault. Will :http://www.ksservices.com/PDFs/LG/Multi%20and%20CAC%20Fault%20Codes%20v%201.1%282%20digit%29.pdfWill :above is a link to LG single or split units the communications fault could have easily been caused by a voltage spike from the power outage you had, as I read this, I take it the unit was operating fine prior to the outage and then the communications error oWill :05 then CH05 within 5 minutes of having power applied, a short in the wiring, from the surge, the PCB which in the LG troubleshooting points to if the voltage readings are as described, could have been damaged by a surge also, I would follow the steps with a volt meter, and then you will have to inspect the wiring then replace the PCB if there was enough surge the wiring issue may be visual just depends on the magnitude, the last statement in the troubleshooting is confusing it all runs togetherOnce the signal has been detected leaving the outdoor unit check what is beingreceived by the indoor unit, measure DC Voltage across the wiring terminal 2 and 3,it should be identical to what you saw at the outdoor unit, if not your wiring is at fault. Will :That last sentence should read something like I have rewritten Once the [communication] signal [voltage] has been detected leaving the outdoor unit then check what is beingreceived by the indoor unit, measure DC Voltage across the wiring terminal 2 and 3,it should be identical to what you saw at the outdoor unit, if not your wiring is at fault. see less Will :Fault Code 05This fault code indicates a communication error between the indoor and outdoorunits; this is usually caused by wiring errors or condensate pumps connected to theinter-connecting cable. The communication between the units is a fluctuating DC voltage commonly called aserial signal, it can be easily lost if the wiringis not done correctly.
