Anonymous Posted on Jan 16, 2010 Answered Does my Harmon Kardon HK595 subwoofer need to have the two sattelite speakers plugged into it to work? The sattelites appear to need proprietary 4 and 5 pin plugs. Are they available? I do not have the left and right speakers or the wires. I've tried hooking it directly to my stereo receiver and get no response. It has input, rear and digital input jacks for male plugs. Not sure which of these connect to my receiver. Can I somehow attach a standard (2) wire speaker to get this unit to work at all. Is it possible to use my old computer speaker system to activate this subwoofer. Can you help me or have any suggestions for me to try?

The controls for the HK-595 are on the right speaker. Without it, I doubt you can get it to work.

Does the sub have a power supply, ie a power cord, if it does this is do able if it does not, then it has no amp for the sub and would require that

SOURCE: I have a HK 595 sub. with no sattelite cables.

you need the the satellite speakers hooked up in order for the sub to work. its not a standalone sub the volume control knob on the satellite speaker is what powers on the sub. i have extra speakers i wish i could give you cuz my sub just blew out.
