Nguyen is widely recognized as one of the main contributor to the development of semantic methods in Genetic Programming. His work has inspired a large number of research on the use of semantics in Genetic Programming (one of his paper on semantic crossovers in Genetic Programming has been received more than 140 citations just after six years since it was published *). Nguyen is the inventor of some new semantic based operators in Genetic Programming. Based on some previous research, Nguyen has discovered the important role of semantic locality of operators in Genetic Programming. He also proposed a number of new operators that achieved higher locality than the traditional operators in Genetic Programming. With his collaborators, Nguyen has successfully applied Genetic Programming equipped his semantic based operators to a wide range of problems including regression, time series prediction, Q-function approximation, text summarization, fishing detection, malware detection and intrusion detection. Recently (since 2015), Nguyen’ main focus is deep learning. He has successfully applied deep learning to solve important problems including face detection and recognition, topic model, sentiment analysis and anomaly detection. He is the honor speaker in a number of tech talk events organized by some big companies in Vietnam such as VNG, TopDev and Grokking. He has also been invited to present in a number of seminar in many universities in Hanoi including Hanoi University, Thang Long University, Vietnam National University in Hanoi, Cipher Academy. His current research interests include: Evolutionary Computation, Genetic Programming, Nguyen has published more than forty papers in the field of Genetic Programming, Machine Learning and related areas for the last 10 years. Apart from Evolutionary Computation, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, he has a wide and firm backgrounds in mathematics and computer science.
