I'm planning to step into the BMW world after my Subaru pooped on me :thumbdwn: I've been looking at the E92 m3's mainly because of the v8 but Im also a little skeptical with some of the problems they've been known to have (rod bearings, throttle actuator, and thats all I think..) At the same time I'm also very interested in the M2's, I love the looks of them, haven't gotten a chance to test drive one though. I had the chance to test drive an m3 today and it put the biggest smile on my face, but the specific one I was looking at wasn't in the best cosmetic condition and the clutch felt very gritty, if that makes sense.. hard to explain. So in your opinion which one do you guys think I should choose? My biggest concern is reliability Also I'm leaning more towards the 6-speed for both vehicles but I'd like to hear your opinions on that as well. I’d go for the M3 though. Nothing like some F1 derived 8400RPM goodness

I have said this before, my E90 M3 was my favorite car i have ever owned, aside from my current S3 of course! #8 · Nov 8, 2018 i recommend going with the E92 M3. whatd you end up selecting? #9 · Jun 18, 2019 get the M2. it will give you a lot less headache and is more reliable and efficient and performs as good as or almost as good as the e92, less the exhaust note ofcourse. you will thank yourself in the end. years of trouble free driving in the m2 vs a risk of headache and repair costs in the e90. unless its your weekend car then reliability is not very relevant. #10 · Jun 18, 2019 I was between these cars plus new M3/M4. but the E92 it's a different type of car.
