Prius2Volt P My volt has been throwing an engine code of C0700 after extended drives on gas. (like 2-4 hours). Once I get home and charge overnight the engine light goes away. Took it into the dealer and they are telling me since the engine light doesn't come on for them, because the code is generic and without it throwing the actual problem while they drive it, they can't diagnose it. They told me they are following a PIP-5000-B procedure for diagnosis, but I can't find that service bulletin anywhere. Ideas? I don't think my Volt has that... Aren't "C" codes "Chasis" codes, meaning they are re-used from car to car with a different meaning in each vehicle? At least that was my assumption. I'm probably wrong. 0 Reply #3 · Jan 28, 2014 Evening Prius2Volt, I apologize for your experience and frustration. Can you please PM me the Last Eight of your VIN, and Best Contact for you? They explained a little better, they said the generated code references a PIP-5000-B service bulletin that requires they test the car at 52 MPH. If no engine light comes on, they are to return car to customer. So the service bulletin is the one telling the dealers to ignore the issue if there is no engine light. Just one side of GM not knowing what the other knows, because ON-STAR is telling people that if the engine light comes on and then goes off, you should take it in. On-Star should have access to these service bulletins so they can tell people to ignore the engine light once it goes off. Insert Quotes Post Reply
