Since its establishment with only 60 members in 1998, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has grown to represent, end of 2023, almost 1,400 European businesses , including some of the world’s leading companies. With offices in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, EuroCham’s mission is to represent the business interests of its European members in Vietnam, and to improve the business environment for the benefit of all businesses. EuroCham also aims at helping Vietnamese enterprises to successfully meet the many challenges posed by the country’s ongoing global economic integration. As the lead organisation representing European business interests in Vietnam, EuroCham works in partnership with the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (BeluxCham), the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), The Central and Eastern European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CEEC), the Dutch Business Association Vietnam (DBAV), the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA), the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM), the Nordic Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (NordCham), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Portugal-Vietnam (CCIPV), and Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (SCCV). EuroCham is also a member and founder of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, representing European business interests in ASEAN; as well as a founding member of the European Business Organisations (EBO) Network, which promotes the interests of European businesses in more than 40 countries across the globe. EuroCham aims to improve the ease of doing business in Vietnam, to promote and increase business between Vietnam and EU Member States, and to promote EU business interests in Vietnam. Led by Mr. Hoang Thanh Viet, CFE, Head of the Business Ethics Working Group, the session welcomed MDDSC members and over 90 distributors. It provided practical insights into ethical business practices, fostering compliance and strengthening partnerships in Vietnam’s medical devices sector. Our heartfelt congratulations to the EABC Thailand team, including EABC President Mrs. Paranee Adulyapichet, Operations Director Mrs. Charanya Nopnukulvised, Ph.D., and Development Director Mr. Omar Ben Abderahmen, for hosting such an impactful event! Represented by our Executive Director, Mrs. Delphine ROUSSELET, we were delighted to join an engaging dialogue led by EU Chief Negotiator Mr. Christophe Kiener and Thailand’s Chief Negotiator Ms. Chotima Iemsawasdikul. During the session, EuroCham Vietnam raised a thought-provoking question on lessons learned from the FTAs with Vietnam and Singapore, and how these insights could inform the EU-Thailand FTA to maximise its success. Events like these reflect the importance of fostering deeper EU-ASEAN cooperation. Labor law experts shared practical strategies for managing complex HR issues, ranging from employee terminations to workplace investigations and labor disputes. The session highlighted common HR crises such as breaches of restrictive covenants, handling senior management misconduct, and navigating labor litigation. Speakers emphasized the importance of identifying root causes, implementing robust protocols, and ensuring business continuity during crises. Key takeaways included the need for proactive measures to prevent incidents, the value of clear communication, and the legal nuances critical to mitigating risks. Attendees gained actionable insights into balancing compliance with operational needs, making the event a valuable resource for employers navigating Vietnam’s labor landscape. Joanna Skoczek, Poland’s new Ambassador to Vietnam.
