EVN - Duyen Hai-3 Power Plant

Vietnam's electric power demand is expected to rise more than 10% year-on-year as the country continues its economic growth. With Vietnam dependent on hydropower generation for about half of its power generation capacity, there is a growing demand for power sources unaffected by weather. The Vietnamese government has formulated a national electric power development master plan to expand power generation capacity from the 2013 level of 30,597 megawatt (MW) to 75,000 MW by 2020 and a further expansion to 146,800 MW by 2030. The power plant is located in the Duyen Hai Power Generation Complex, in the Duyen Hai district of Tra Vinh province, 200 kilometers of Ho Chi Minh city. The planned power plant complex will be made up of three separate coal-fired power plants: Duyen Hai 1, 2, and 3. The first two are made up of two units each, and the third is made up of three units.
