Feb 18, 2009 3 0 18,520 I have a HPE DL380 G6 running windows server 2012. It has been running fine for a few weeks, but recently I acquired a new hard drive to install. Everytime I put in the hard drive the fans go from running at near silent to about 70% speed (siren noise mode). All of the temperature readings are fine and there are no processes or anything loading on the CPU. If I restart and pull the drive it runs quiet again. I've made sure to update all of the firmware and drivers that I could and even tried using a software fan controller with no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated. Solution I'm not sure if there is a good solution, but apparantly there is a known problem. Certain hard drives just don't play well with this system as explained on this page: http://dascomputerconsultants.com/HPCompaqServerDrives.htm Sort by date Sort by votes user11464
